I don't know if this is what you mean by sharing information; but, I am looking for my gggrandmother.  She was supposedly born in Gordon County GA on January 15, 1859.  Her name was Nancy Ann Potts.  She was married to Tom Pettijohn prior to marrying my gggrandfather Marmaduke Anthony Thompson on April 7, 1880 in Marion County Arkansas.  If anyone has any information concerning her, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am trying to find anything I can for my dad.

I have a copy of JOSEPH STRICKLAND (of 1850 US Census Gordon Co., GA, and also his claim before the Southern Claims Commission from Cherokee Co., AL.

It is interesting in that it seems one of his sons, under age, joined the Confederate Army, and Joseph got him out.  After that he left Gordon Co., GA, to join his older brother in Cherokee Co., AL, claiming the KKK had persecuted him.  This suggests that the KKK or the beginnings of this organization was already in existence before the Civil War.  The son died during this period.  Causes are unknown.

Is there anyone in Gordon County that can help me find the death date for Adam Sanders/Saunders? He was born abt, 1803 in North Carolina and was in the 1850 census for Murray County, with his family of Mary, wife, and children George W., Elvira, Benjamin F. Wesley G., Jacob C., and Sarah A. He is not listed with the family in the 1860 census for Gordon County. Any help with info on Adam or any members of his family would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching the family of my grandfather's sister, Lucinda WALTERS, who
married Fitzhugh Lee TIMMS [s/o William A. TIMMS and Martha Bowan] 4 Sep 1892.
They were the parents of 9 children:  Chester Ray m. Celia ALLEN; Annie Mae
m. Hollie Franklin STANSELL; Benjamin Howard m. Emma E. GALLMON [maybe
GALLMAN]; Myrtle McKenly m. Vince Winfield "Dink" ALLEN; Ollice Eugenia m. Myrtle
Thurston HALL
; William Alexander "Buddie"; Samuel Porter m. Ruth PHILLIPS; Robert
R. "Rob"
m. Lillie Mae McBRAYER; Eula Lee m. Jack Ford BOSTON.

Aunt Lou
was the only one of my grandfather's siblings about whom I heard
virtually nothing as I was growing up.  If she and her family ever visited my
grandfather's family in Alabama I am unaware of it.

Lucinda WALTERS
was the d/o William Henry Harrison WALTERS and Flora Eugene
VINCENT
.  Her siblings were Alice b. 1867; Thomas Jefferson "Tom" b. 1869; Alcy
Vincent
b. 1877 [my grandfather] / m. Della Mae HIGGINBOTHAM of Sugar Valley;
Chesley Bostick "Chett" b. 1880 /  m. Emma Eldora THOMAS; Eula Mae b. 1887 /
m. Richard Seaborn "Dick" BLACKSTOCK; Anna Lee b. 1890 / m. Benjamin Franklin
"Ben" Haley; Emmett
b. 1893 / m. Thelma ? and moved to Texas.

I love to communicate with anyone who has any knowledge re this family and
will gladly share what I have gleaned during the past several years.

In the 1860 Gordon County Census there is a community listed as Silaquoy. Could you please tell me what part of Gordon County that Silaquoy was in. My ancestor Larenzo Shaw was listed in that district.

Thanks Gary  [email protected]
