All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm The Atlanta Constitution September 1, 1910 Convict Shot Dead Attempting Escape J E Miller, a Sounty Carolinian, serving six months on the county farm, made a break to escape with J R Crosby, another prisoner, this afternoon, and was fatally shot by the guards, dying after being brought to the city. Crosby made good his escape. Miller had made several unsuccessful efforts to escape previously. He was sentenced several weeks ago for stealing a suit of clothes from a fellow lodger at the Salvation Army, where he was shopping.
