He was educated at private schools, and studied medicine and graduated M. D., at the Atlanta Medical College, and supplemented his education and training during the following year, by attending the schools and hospitals of Paris, France. On his return from abroad he settled first in Griffin, in his native State, and after the War [1865], in Atlanta, where he has since remained engaged in an active and successful practice of his profession. He entered the Confederate Army as a private in March, 1861; was assigned to duty as an assistant surgeon, Fourth Regiment Georgia State Troops... Ref: Stone, R. French, M.
