Hulsey I would appreciate it.I have not been able to connect him to any of the other Hulseys in Georgia.
John Robinson - 08/07/00 I am a descendant of William Osmus Robinson (1825--1898) who was born in Morgan County, GA, grew up in Newton County, GA, married in Butts County, GA (1851) and moved to Carroll County, GA in 1859.His wife was Rosannah Helen Sinah LOFTON, daughter of John Lofton and Sarah Jester of Butts County, GA, formerly of Edgefield District, SC.I have recently learned the ROBINSONS in my family originated from Edgefield District, SC, too. The progenitor of the family was John ROBINSON, Sr. who married Lucy Fell of Fell's Point, Maryland, and they moved to Edgefield District, SC prior to the American Revolution. Their son, John ROBINSON, Jr.(who served in 2nd SC Regiment in American Revolution) married Mary Raymond and eleven children were born to them.I have all the names and birthdates of these children--and who theymarried (from a Bible record), but am trying to track down three of the sons in particular. We know the oldest son, Raymond Robinson, moved from Edgefield to Claiborne County, Mississippi about 1807.The son John Robinson III (b. 12 September 1773) married Nancy COLLINS in Putnam County, GA12 May 1808.(She was daughter of Moses Collins). This same John Robinson was living in Washington County, GA in 1805 when he participated in the GA land lottery of that year.I believe I may have a piece to the puzzle for any ROBINSONS IN FLOYD COUNTY who may be seeking their ancestors. There is a connection between our Carroll County Robinsons and Floyd County Robinsons in this way.We have a story in our family passed down many generations that back in times just after the Civil War that a little girl named Margaret Letty Ann PARKER came to live with the then adult daughter of William Osmus Robinson, my ancestor.W.O.'s daughter's name was Sinah Robinson Horton. Her husband was Joseph Wesley Horton--and they had three daughters of their own. The situation was that Margaret Letty Ann Parker's motherhad married a man named Robinson. They were living in or around Rome, Georgia at the time of the Civil War. I searched records and found a John Robinson who was married to a Sarah B. Parker living in Floyd County.I believe this has to be the Robinson cousin referred to in our family story. We know that JohnjN. Robinson (spelled Robertson in marriage record) married Sarah B. Parker in Washington County, GA on27December 1840 and he may be the son of the John Robinson who m. Nancy Collins.Anyway, the story goes that Margaret Letty Ann Parker's parents were afraid for her to walk sofar to school in the uncertaintimes after the Civil War.It must have been about 1870 when her parents decided to send her to live during the school year with the Robinson's"Cousin Sinah Horton".Sinah Horton's home was just a stone's throw from an excellent female academy in Carrollton, Georgia. So until Margaret Letty Ann Parker finished her education, she would live during the school year with "Cousin Sinah" in Carrollton, Georgia.Margaret Letty Ann Parker later married 3 September 1883 to William ThomasHACKNEY and they reared a large family in Carroll County, GA.(I have acopy of all their descendants up to about 1985). One odd discrepancy I can't figure out--is that Margaret Letty Ann Parker was born 15 June 1864.This ties in with story of her attending school after the Civil War.I can't figure why her name wasn't Robinson if John N. Robinson m. Sarah B. Parker in 1840.Maybe they were her grandparents or aunt and uncle instead of her parents. It could even have been that this Margaret Letty Ann Parker was left an orphan after the Civil War.Still, there was some kind of family connection here--between Robinsons of Floyd County and Robinsons of Carroll County.I have looked at Floyd County Marriages and found listed Rev. WILLIAM F. ROBINSON m. Savannah E. STILLWELL 30 October 1867.I also find WILLIAM F. ROBINSON m. Nannie E.SIMS 23 April 1868.These names interest me very much because John Robinson, Jr. who married Mary Raymond had a son he named WILLIAM FELL ROBINSON (b. 1 December 1785).This William Fell Robinson is also a line I am tracking. This William Fell Robinson married Eliza HUTCHINSON--I am wondering if the William F. Robinsons of Floyd County were named for the William Fell Robinson in this line. The other Robinson brother I am tracking is named Benjamin Robinson who was born 18 June 1790 and married Lavina TAYLOR.Though all the Robinson brothers were born in Edgefield District, SC, I believe these three brothers--John Robinson III (he may have signed his name Jr.), William Fell Robinson, and Benjamin Robinson--all migrated to Georgia in the early 1800's.I am seeking any information on them I can find.
