Mrs. Thelma Louise Branton Turner

Mrs. Thelma Louise Branton Turner, age 86, 5050 N. Fifth Ave., Rome, formerly of Mountain View Road, passed away Tuesday evening in a local health care facility following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Turner was born in Floyd County on July 8, 1916, daughter of the late Arthur Lee Branton and the late Carrie Belle Satcher Branton. She was married to Ralph Sanders on March 6, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ralph Wendell Turner on March 15, 2003, and by a brother, Otis Branton. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for seven years with Georgia Garment Co., here in Rome. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church. She was loved and will be missed by her family and by her two special girls, Danielle Maples and Kara Phillips.
She is survived by a son, Bill Turner, and his wife, Vickie, Armuchee; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ann Turner, Silver Creek; three grandchildren, Barry Turner, Silver Creek, Mrs. Jill Baker, and her husband Todd, Silver Creek, and Jake Turner, Armuchee; four great-grandchildren, Josh and Clint Turner, Silver Creek and Mackenzie and Anna Baker, Silver Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Moore, Adairsville, Mrs. Ethel Taylor, Marietta, and Mrs. Evelyn Bridges, Cartersville; five brothers, Joe Branton, Kingston, William Branton, Kingston, Ralph Branton, Rome, Eugene Branton, Rome, and Louis Branton, Silver Creek; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Spring Creek Baptist Church with her pastor, the Rev. Jim Reynolds and the Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at each of their respective homes.
Mrs. Turner will lie in state at the Spring Creek Baptist Church Friday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers and are requested to assemble at the church Friday at 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Spring Creek Baptist Church, 2636 Chulio Road, S.E. Rome, GA 30161.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
