Henderson & Sons Funeral Home obituary Notice February 28, 2009

Mr. William Howard "Buffalo" Phillips, age 76, of 54 Oreburg Road, Rome, passed away February 26, 2009 at a local hospital. Mr. Phillips was born in Floyd County on December 16, 1932. Son of the late Melvin Eugene Phillips and the late Maude Dodson Phillips. He was of the Baptist faith and prior to retirement, He worked at Inland Container for a number of years. (abt.36 years) Survivors include his wife, the former Marion Blair, to whom he was married on August 12, 1950; 2 daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Rose Womack and her husband, Doyal, Rome, and Mrs Debra Joan Hendrix and her husband, Wayne, Rome; 3 sons, Anthony Howard Phillips, Rome, William Robert Phillips, Rome, and James Craig Phillips and his wife Patsy, Rome; a sister Mrs. Helen Jarrell, Tallapoosa; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. David Fickett officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 5pm. At other hours they may be contacted at the resident. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Hendersons & Sons Funeral Home at 1:30pm and include; Michael Phillips, Josh Phillips, Jason Phillips, Chris Womack, Cody Womack, Jeff Hendrix, and Roger Thomas. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
