Funeral
services for Alvin Eugene Phillips, 67, of 105 Windfield St. Rome, who died
Friday at his residence after a long illness, will be held today at 2 P.M. at
East View Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Ingram, Morris Cargle, and Herman
Stamey officiating. Interment will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Phillips
was born in Floyd County on March 16, 1931, son of the late Melvin Eugene
Phillips and Maude Mildred (Dodson) Phillips. He was a member of East View
Baptist Church and a US Army veteran. Prior to retirement, he was employed by
Bekaert Steel Corp. Survivors include a sister, Helen Jarrell, Buchana; a
brother, William Howard Phillips, Rome; nieces and nephews. Henderson & Sons
Funeral Home.
