James W. Padgett Dies Monday Night

James William Padgett, 88, died at the resident of his son Hilliard Padgett, 304 Forsyth, Monday at 7 p.m. He had been in declining health for the past several years, his condition becoming serious two weeks ago.
Mr. Padgett was born in Ball Ground Dec. 7, 1862, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Padgett, but had been a resident of Rome for 59 years. He was a member of North Broad Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lillie Jones in 1925.
Surviving are four sons, Hilliard and Early Padgett of Rome, Arthur and Barney Padgett of South Gate, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. John Wyatt, Lexington and Mrs. Ruby Gunter, Riverside, Calif; one sister, Lucinda Pattey, Jasper; seventeen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Jennings Funerl Home.
