Earl L. Padgett Dies in Hospital, Funeral is Tuesday

Early Lee Padgett, 67, well known retired moulder and member of a prominent Rome family, died early Sunday morning in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Padgett lived on West Seventh St.
Born in Bartow County on Oct. 6, 1891, Mr. Padgett was the son of the late James William and Lillie Jones Padgett. He had made his home in Rome for a number of years and prior to his retirement he was associated with the Rome Machine and Foundry, and the Griffin Foundry. He was a member of the Mark McDonald Baptist Church and the Oostanaula Lodge No. 113 F. & A. M.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A.K. Ross and Mrs. Marie Balackwelder, both of Rome, and Mrs. Wilson L. Cook of Quantico, VA; one brother, Hilliard Padgett of Rome; two sisters, Mrs. John Wyatt, of Lexington, GA and Mrs. Ruby Lookinbee of California; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. Vesley B.T. Cox, Chaplain of Battey Hospital, will officiate with interment to follow in the family lot in East View Cemetery. The Oostanaula Lodge No. 113 F. & A. M. will have charge of the graveside services. There will be a called communication of Oostanaula Lodge No. 113 at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the lodge hall for the purpose of paying the last respects to Mr. Early L. Padgett. The body will be at the Stevens Funeral Home until time for the funeral service.
