Mrs. Nealie Nichols

Mrs. Nealie Jane Nichols, 85, of Rome, Rte. 4, died Saturday at 11:20 p.m. in a local hospital following an illness of three years, her condition becoming serious four days ago. Mrs. Nichols was born in Floyd County, Jan. 29, 1883, daughter of the late Joe Branton and Lucienda Cline Branton. She had been a resident of Floyd County all her llife and was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lindsey Jack Nichols, to whom she was married Jan. 15, 1906; four daughters, Mrs. Evie Carroll, Mrs. Spencer Johnson, Mrs. Ruby Littlejohn and Mrs. J. B. Wilbanks, all of Rome, Rte. 4; one son, Rufus Nichols, Rome Rte. 4, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today at Spring Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Willis and Wesley Terhune officiating. Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Hoyt Carrol, Wade and Max Johnson, Jackie Littlejohn, Kenneth Nichols and Johnny Morris. Honorary pallbearers included the Board of Deacons of the Spring Creek Baptist Church, and Jack Morris. Jennings Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
