Nichols Funeral Rites Are Held

Mrs. Ira Omega Nichols, 67, of 602 East Second Avenue, died in a local hospital Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock following four weeks illness.
She was born in Cartersville November 21, 1880, daughter of the late William and Elmira Mayfield Satcher and had been a resident of Rome for the past 34 years and a member of the Mark McDonald Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement in 1937 she had been employed by the Rome Hosiery Mill for 24 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Nichols, a number of years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. G. M. Howren and Mrs. F. H. Johnson, both of Rome; three brothers, G. J. and J. L. and W. A. Satcher, all of Paris, Texas; two sist ers, Mrs. R. M. Brown and Mrs. J. A. Freeman, both of Silver Creek, GA Rt. 11. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 4 p. m. today from the Mark McDonald Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Manning and the Rev. Leroy Perry officiating.
Interment will be in East View. The body was to lie in state at the residence of her son, W. B. Nichols, 204 East Sixth Avenue until time for the services.
Pallbearers included Robert Poole, J. C. Brewer, Horace Walker, Lee Richardson, Cicero Howren and Earl Ball.
