Miss Annie Nichols Succumbs Saturday

Miss Annie Bell Nichols, 63, of 101 East Eight Street, died in a local hospital at 4 a.m. Saturday following an illness of several years.
She was born in Bartow County July 17, 1890, daughter of Mrs. Andrew Jackson Nichols and the late Mr. Nichols. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and prior to her retirement 10 years ago because of ill health, she was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing Co.. Miss Nichols was a member of the Second Avenue Methodist Church and was preceded in death by a brother, A.J. Nichols, Feb. 3, 1939.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. L. B. Barton, Rome; Mrs. Horace Litton, Wax, Miss Lorene Nichols, Lindale, and Mrs. Jim Dodd, Barnsley Gardens; two brothers, Sproull and Roy Nichols, both of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Jennings Funeral Home. The body will be carried to the residence to lie in state until time for services.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 4 p.m. in the Second Avenue Methodist Church. The Rev. E. P. Kendall, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Raymond Bennett will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Spring Creek Cemetery.
Six nephews will serve as pallbearers. They include H. D. Harvey and Boyce Litton, Hugh and Jimmy Dodd, and James Luckett.
