Mrs. Kathleen Freeman Gross

Mrs. Kathleen Freeman Gross, age 97, 505 N. Fifth Ave., Rome, passed away Sunday afternoon in a local health care facility following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Gross was born in Floyd County on Dec. 5, 1904, daughter of the late Jeff and Mary Drummond Freeman. She was employed many years at Anchor Rome Mills. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Kessler's Department Store here in Rome. Mrs. Gross was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Barney "Bonnie" Gross in 1940; by a son, Charles Gross in 1992; and by 10 siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Carney of Rome; three sons, William "Bill" Gross of Jonesboro, the Rev. Joe Gross of Dallas, Texas, and John Gross of Rome; 10 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held this morning at 11 a.m. at the graveside in East View Cemetery. Her son, the Rev. Joe Gross will officiate.
There will be no formal visitation. The family may be contacted at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Carney, 3219 Kingston Highway, Rome, 30161.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
