Mrs. Fannie Mae Green Dies Sunday; Funeral Service to Be Tuesday

Mrs. Fannie Mae Gillam Green, 58, of 27 Beech St., Celanese, died in a Rome hospital at 5 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Green had been in declining health since September but her death came suddenly following an attack.
Born in Bartow County, July 11, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Lou Ella Dempsey Gillam and Robert Lee Gillam. Mrs. Green has spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was an active member of the Celanese Baptist Church and Rose Marlowe Sunday School Class. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Horace C. Green, April 13, 1946.
Surviving are one son, James Robert Green, Rome Rte. 6; two brothers, J. A. Gillam, Rome Rte. 2 and Scott Gillam, Rome Rte. 1. Two grandchildren and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Celanese Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Carl Wheeler, and the Rev. Charles Ivey, pastor of Turner Chapel Baptist Church, officiating. The body will be placed in state at the church at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The body will remain at the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:45 to 9:30 p.m. today. At other hours, the family will be at the home of the son, Robert Green, Freeman Ferry road.
Active pallbearers include Richard Wood, Dr. Robert Robbins, P. E. Williams, W. R. Hale, Louie Stanley and W. P. (Billy) Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Rose Marlowe Sunday School Class. Jennings Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
