George Elrod, Sr.
Funeral services for George Elrod, Sr., 52, who was serving his fifth term as mayor of the town of White, were conducted at 2:30 p.m., today at the White Methodist Church, the Rev. Walter S. Adams, the Rev. Harold Fuller and the Rev. W. A Medford officiating. Burial was in the White Cemetery, with the Owen Funeral Home directing.
� Mr. Elrod died at his home Sunday after an extended illness.
� During his tenure as mayor, many town improvements were made, including the installation of a water works system. He was a member of the Whit Kiwanis Club, Woodmen of the World and a steward of the White Methodist Church. Mr. Elrod was a native of Bartow County and for many years had been associated with Jones Mercantile Co. in Cartersville.
� Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Zelma Pinion; a daughter, Miss Sue Fay Elrod; two sons, George Elrod Jr., Montgomery, Ala. And James G. Elrod, Valdosta; his mother, Mrs. George W. Elrod, Woodbury; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Bell, Chamblee and Mrs. Steve Clements, Woodbury; and a brother, J. C. Elrod Woodbury.
