Death of An Old Citizen
Mr. Thomas T. Ellison Passed Peacefully Away Yesterday
On yesterday morning at half past one o'clock, Mr. Thomas T. Ellison died at his residence,
three miles west of Rome. He was one of the oldest citizens of Floyd County, being in his eightieth year. He was well known to the people of Rome as he had
been a market gardener and was depended on by many for their supply of vegetables and country produce. Mr. Ellison was one of the most familiar characters
in the community. The funeral service will be conducted this morning at nine o'clock by Dr. Hadden at Fellowship Church. The friends of the family are
invited to be present.
(Note: on the 1880 Flatwoods District Floyd County census, Thomas was listed as 70, born GA, father born VA, mother, NC. His wife Elizabeth was 42, born in
ME, sons, Joseph W. was 18, Charley S. 16)
