Mr. Jimmy D. Atkins, age 54, of Rome, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2000. Mr. Atkins was born April 3, 1945 in Polk County. He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Atkins and a brother, Junior Atkins. Surviving are mother, Rachel Lee Atkins of Cedartown; wife, Jackie Atkins of Phoenix City, Ala.; sons, James Atkins and Kevin Lee Atkins, both of Cedartown; daughter, Missy Atkins of Rome; two sisters, Brenda Temple and Dianne Bailey, both of Cedartown; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 13, in the Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Fetkenhour officiating. Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Lindsey, David Money, Dewey Couch. Randy Shaw, Timothy McConnell and Odell Couch. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
