Full Title: An Act to incorporate Hopewell Academy in the county of Fayette, and appoint Trustees for the
same.
15. SECTION I. Be it enacted, &c., That Charles Smith, Franklin Landrum, Jarrot Handley, M. J. Smith
and G. R. Sims, and their successors in office, be, and they are hereby appointed Trustees of Hopewell
Academy in the county of Fayette.
16. Sec. II. And be it further enacted, That the aforesaid Trustees, and their successors in office, be, and
they are hereby declared to be capable of using a common seal, of suing and being sued, pleading and being
impleaded in the several Courts of Law and Equity in this State, of receiving and holding for the use of said
Academy, all donations, gifts, grants and bequests, of executing and receiving acquittances and of making
by the vote of a majority of said Trustees, all necessary by-laws for the government of said Academy and
filling all vacancies that may occur in the Board of Trustees.
Approval Date: APPROVED, March 1st, 1856.
