Carolyn Floyd

11 May 2004

Researching Ellison and Slaton's primarily with collateral families of Landrum, Collier, Chandler, Greer & McElwaney.  My earliest ancestors in Fayette County were Larkin Landrum, Samuel Ellison, Azariah Slaton, Asa Chandler and Charles Pinkney Collier.  My grandparents, Ellis & Winnie Ellison Slaton left Fayette County with 5 children shortly after the death of a 6th child in December 1920, for Thomas County, GA.  Loretta Ellison Lanier, my great aunt lived in Fayette County and we visited her every other summer.  My mother was their second daughter, Irene.  There is a surviving daughter, Cecil, who is 94.  Would be interested in contact from anyone researching these families.

Trying to find the parents of George E Harrison, our g-grandfather. We think he was born in Fayette county about 1854. He was married to Lela Felker about 1882 and died 1929 in Haralson county. His children were: Edward L, Eugene, Bernard, Mamie, Glenn, Gene, Sullie, Nanny, Chester;  We have the Felker line documented but the Harrison line is hard to find. In the 1840 census record Robert E. Johnson is with only one other person, a female between the age of 15 and 20 years old. The census record does not show a name, only numbers of children and females.

In the 1850 census Thomas is 9 yrs old, he is Robert E. and Mary’s first born. Born in 1841 so it is most likely that the female in the 1840 census is Mary and that they were married about 1940, Mary would have been 17 years old.

I last find Robert E. in the 1870 Census,  He is 52 years old at that time and by the 1880 census  he is no longer with the family. Most probably Robert died between 1870 and 1880. By the 1890 census I can no longer find Mary L
