Full Title: AN ACT for the relief
of James King, of the county of Cherokee, and to appropriate certain monies for
the benefit of certain persons therein named.
WHEREAS James King, of the
county of Cherokee, in compliance with the provisions of the act relating to reverted
lands, assented to December 28th, 1842, made application for the grant to lot number
twenty-four, in the second District and the second section of Cherokee county: And
whereas, at the time of said application, it appeared by the entries in the books
of the Executive Office, that the grant to said lot of land had issued: and whereas
said lot was subsequently granted as a reverted lot, whereby the Treasury of the
State received twenty-two and a half dollars more than would have been paid in had
the grant issued to the said James King, the rightful owner of said lot:

SECTION 1. Be it therefore enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the
authority of the same, That his Excellency the Governor be, and he is hereby authorized
to draw his warrant on the Treasury for the said sum of twenty-two and a half dollars,
in favor of said James King.
SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That the
sum of four hundred and fifty dollars be, and is hereby appropriated to the Rev.
George White in payment for one hundred and fifty copies of "White's Statistics,"
which his Excellency the Governor was authorized to subscribe by a resolution passed
the last General Assembly.
SECTION 3. And be it further
enacted, That James Alford, of Fayette county, be, and he is hereby relieved from
the payment of the residue of a judgment against him in favor of the Central Bank
of Georgia, which judgment was and is founded upon his endorsement of the note of
James Sudduth, the principal according to the face of the said note together with
the interest thereon having already been paid off and discharged.
SECTION 4. And be it further enacted, That the sum of forty dollars and twenty-six
cents be paid to Deleware Morris, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise
appropriated; it being the principal and interest of the amount paid the State for
the purchase of lot number one hundred and ten in the ninth district of Hall county,
sold by the Commissioners of the State in conformity with the act of the General
Assembly passed December 22d, 1827, entitled an act to dispose of the residue of
lands heretofore reserved for the use of the State, at which sale Charles F. Betton
became the purchaser, and the certificate of purchase has been for a valuable consideration
transferred to Deleware Morris, but to which land the said Betton or
Morris
have never been able to obtain a grant, it having been previously granted by the
State to one Edward Horne, of Campbell's district, Morgan county, and evidently
sold by mistake; and that the Governor issue his warrant for said amount.
SECTION 5. And be it further enacted, That the Governor draw his warrant on
the Treasury, in favor of James M. Wayne, President of the Georgia Historical Society,
for the sum of six hundred dollars, to defray the expense of procuring transcripts
of certain colonial records which they tender to the State.

Full Title: An Act for the relief of John Huie,
of the County of Fayette.
WHEREAS, John Huie, of the County of Fayette, on
the thirteenth day of July, 1840, [UNK 1841,[UNK with divers other persons, become
the endorser upon two promissory notes, one for eight hundred dollars, made by J.
Q. A. Alford, and one for five hundred dollars, made by Alfred M. Watts, which were
severally discounted at the Central Bank, for one hundred dollars. And,
WHEREAS, Said notes were sued in separate actions and judgments obtained thereon,
first against the said John Huie, in 1842, and afterwards against the other parties.
And,
WHEREAS, Said last mentioned judgments were paid Gibson Clark, (Attorney
of the Central Bank,) in the years 1845 and 1846, who accounted with said Bank for
one of them. And,
WHEREAS, The Director of said Bank afterward in August,
1850, caused the judgments against said John [Illegible Text to be levied and collected
during the absence of said Huie from the State, by means whereof said notes and
the judgments founded thereon, have been twice paid. And,
WHEREAS, The amount
raised from the sales of said Huie's property with interest, should be refunded
to him.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of
the same, That the sum of four hundred and sixty-eight dollars and thirty-seven
cents, be and the same is hereby appropriated to the said John Huie, and that the
Governor, be and he is hereby required to draw his warrant upon the Treasury for
said sum, in favor of the said John Huie, the judgments aforesaid and interest with
the expenses of levy and sale amounting thereto.

42. Section I. Be it enacted, &c.,
That the Governor draw his warrant on the Treasury of this State in favor of John
Huie, or his order for the sum of two hundred and fifty-six 87½ 100 dollars, the
amount paid by him as endorser of a note made by Allen Alford, which was paid twice,
once by said Allen Alford, and again by the said John Huie, by the levy and sale
of his property in the county of Fayette.

Full Title: An Act for the relief
of William M. Pyron of Fayette county, &c.
Whereas, William M. Pyron
of the county of Fayette, gave in his tax, the present year in the county of Clayton,
thinking that he was a citizen of Clayton county, being near the line and understood
he was; and whereas, it is now ascertained that he lives in the county of Fayette.
12. SECTION I. Be it enacted, That William M. Pyron be relieved from paying
tax in the county of Clayton, and that he is hereby authorized and required to pay
his tax in the county of Fayette, according to the return given in the county of
Clayton, and not pay a double tax in Fayette county.
SEC. II. Repeals conflicting
laws.

Full Title: An Act for the relief
William P. Redwine, of Fayette county.
Whereas, on the fifteenth day of November,
eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, William P. Redwine of Fayette county, together
with Samuel Pyle, L. B. Jackson, Blake Jackson, Mathew E. Jackson, William G. Smith,
John D. Keaton and Isaac Holcombe, became the sureties of one Diskin Holcombe, on
a recognizance for his appearance at the September Term, eighteen hundred and fifty-nine,
of the Superior Court of said county of Fayette; and whereas, at the said September
Term, eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, of said Court, said recognizance was forfeited
on account of the non-appearance of the said Diskin
Molcombe.

SECTION I. Be it enacted, &c., That from and after the passage of this act,
said William P. Redwine, be, and he is hereby released and fully exonerated from
all liability on said recognisance.
SEC. II. Repeals conflicting laws.
Passed in the House by a constitutional majority of 103 yeas to 28 nays, over
the Governor's veto, November 26th, 1859.

the relief of Alexander Ware.
Whereas, Alexander Ware has petitioned this
Legislature for indulgence on the instalments that are due from his to the state,
for the purchase of fractional surveys of land at the late sales -- And whereas
the said Alexander Ware has made it satisfactorily appear that he has exhausted
his funds by furnishing the friendly Indians with subsistence while [Illegible Text
from their homes, and has not been reimbursed by the United States Government:
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Georgia
in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
That the said Alexander Ware shall be indulged one year for the instalments that
is now due or which may become due within ninety days from and after the passage
of this act, on fractions number thirty, thirty-two, thirty-three, forty-four, and
sixty-three, in the sixth district Fayette county, and number one hundred and sixty,
in the seventh district Fayette county, by paying lawful interest on the same --
any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
