May 18, 1846 - School opened with prayer & singing by Father Gay.

April 25, 1847 - School opened with p&s by Brother A. Brown. Pleasant weather, the scholars attended quite earley this morning and behaved quite well with the exception of some of the females. Mrs. Jno. I. Ballard was admitted as a teacher.

June 20, 1847 - School opened with prayer by Jon Whitaker. Our superintendent was absent today, by affliction, and the weather unpleasant. Very good order.

August 15, 1847 - School opened with s&p by superintendent. Pleasant weather, The absent teachers two of them are afflicted. Mr. & Mrs. Smarr, which we regret, but we must submit to the dispensation of providence.

August 29, 1847 - School met today, but owing to the absence of the teachers except Mrs. Jno Ballard. There was no record of the number.

March 26, 1848 - Pleasant weather. We have twenty eight scholars today. This being the first day of school this year we hope it will increase and prosper. Jno I. Whitaker appointed Librarian. Good in school today.

April 16, 1848 - School opened with reading and prayer by Brother Crittenden. The regular meeting of the school will be on the first and third Sabbaths. Very good order today.

May 7, 1848 - School opened with reading & prayer by superintendent. Very pleasant weather. The Georgia Baptist Convention convened its present session in the city of Griffin on Friday last also, The Southern Board of the Publication Society. Very good order in school today.

May 21, 1848 - Pleasant weather. Teachers Crittenden and Ballard at preaching today. The teachers had a meeting on the 13th last and they have agreed to meet often and consult about the interest and prosperity of the school.

June 18, 1848 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden. Pleasant weather. Very good order in school. Mrs. Martha Reeves cannot attend to assist in teaching. Miss Julian R. Smarr is an assistant to her mother in teaching the little girls.

September 3, 1848 - Pleasant weather. J. W. Crittenden at Salem today, attending preaching.

September 17,1848 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden.

October 15, 1848 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden.

October 29, 1848 - School opened with s&p by Jno I. Whitaker...Pleasant weather today. Very good order, except with some of the little boys who was a little noisey, while attending to the general lesson.

March 18, 1849 - School commenced today for the year 1849, with a very good prospect. Julian and Elizabeth Smarr going to school in Griffin. Some new scholars have come in, making the same number as last year.

April 15, 1849 - Weather very cold and cloudy, good order today in school. Mrs. Smarr is absent on account of affliction. Mrs. William Reeves, also Mr Ballard is gone to quarterly meeting.

April 29, 1849 - Weather very pleasant. Miss Julian and Elizabeth were present today.

May 6, 1849 - Pleasant weather. Leave of absence granted to J. W. Crittenden for today.

June 3, 1849 - Pleasant weather, and very good order. Mrs. Smarr is absent on a visit to the counties of Cass and Carroll, Mr. Crittenden attending the burial of his brother in law child today.

July 15, 1849 - The librarian was sick and could not attend, and makes out this account of the school as given him by the Superintendent. An invitation was given to us by County Line to attend Sabbath School Celebration on the 26th of July which was accepted. (July 29, 1849 by Jno I. Whitaker, Librarian)

July 29, 1849 - A very thin school is consequence of a protracted meeting at Whitewater Church. There was 322 scholars at the celebration at County Line on the 26th last. Miss Julian R. Smarr and Elizabeth I. Smarr have returned from Griffin and in attendance today. Jno I. Whitaker, Librarian.

September 16, 1849 - School opened with s&p by Jno. I. Whitaker.

October 7, 1849 - Weather very cool and chilley. The two children that has left the school are Crawford Bridges� who has moved to Arkansas.

October 21, 1849 - School opened with s&p by Jno I. Whitaker. Weather very unpleasant and a good deal of sickness with the scholars, and they are prevented (some of them) from attending. Superintendent absent today. (Cause not known)

March 1, 1850 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by Jno. I. Whitaker.; A. Brown moved away; J. W. Crittenden, Supt.; Jno I. Ballard, Ass. Supt.; Eli Edmonston, Teacher; William Whitaker, Teacher; Mrs. Martha Reeves, assistant Teacher; Miss Martha Edmonston, Assistant Teacher;

March 10, 1850 - Superintendent absent on account of affliction. Mr. Ballard is in Pike County.

June 9, 1850 - Pleasant weather. A thin school today. Some teachers and scholars gone to hear the funeral service of Alex? Smith preached today at Union Chapel.

June 23, 1850 - School opened with singing and prayer by Brother William Morris. Weather very warm and dry. Meeting day at Whitewater Chruch today and some of the scholars are members of that church and prevents them from coming to school.

August 10, 1850 - Owing to protracted meeting and hooping cough in the neighborhood, the school is quite thin today. Very good order in school. Mr. Ballard was absent today.

August 25, 1850 - I do not know the cause of so many scholars being absent this day. Very good order in school today. Superintendant left today after opening school. William Whitaker absent.

September 22, 1850 - School opened with singing and prayer by Danville M. Morris. The supt and librarian are at the Flint River Association at this time which accounts for their absence.

October 12, 1850 - The school is thin today. Meeting at Salem, singing at Whitewater. and Mr. John McLane died yesterday morning and buried this morning which takes of some of the scholars.

October 27, 1850 - School opened with singing and prayer by A. Brown, former Supt. The weather very cold, frost and ice this morning. Brother A. Brown former supt. has visited the school today. Very good order in school today. Adjourned until the first Sunday in March next. Jno. I. Whitaker, Librarian.

June 8, 1851 - School opened with singing and prayer by Brother Robert C. Porter; The school met today in the new meeting house. Brother Robert C. Porter met with the school today. Very good order in school today.

June 22, 1851 - School opened with s&p by Brother A. Brown.

July 13, 1851 - School opened with s&p by Brother Robert C. Porter.

July 27, 1851 - School opened with s&p by Jno. I. Whitaker. Very warm and dry weather. The school is declining and it is neglected by the scholars for the purpose we suppose of going to meeting.

August 10, 1851 - School opened with s&p by Brother A. Brown.

March 28, 1852 - School opened with singing and prayer by Brother J. W. Crittenden; The school met today, Officers - J. W. Crittenden, Supt.; Jno. I. Whitaker, Librarian; Jno I. Ballard, Washington W. Fifts, Thomas M. Gay and Cynthia Gay - teachers; Reverend V. A. Gaskell preached a sermon on the training of a child at Sabbath School from Proverbs.

August 22, 1852 - School opened with singing and prayer by J. W. Crittendon. There was no school on the last school day owing to the protracted meeting at this church, �Antioch�. Weather very unpleasant and very few scholars out today. Some sickness among the scholars and meeting at Salem church.

September 26, 1852 - School opened with singing and prayer by W. W. Fifts; The librarian was absent and at the Association. And this memorandum was made by the superintendent to wit. 32 scholars present, pleasant weather, and good order in school.

October 10, 1852 - Thomas M. Gay and his wife Cynthia Gay has moved to Texas. Started October 4, 1852. W. W. Fifts has moved away. Unpleasant weather. Very good order in school today.

October 24, 1852 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden. Pleasant weather. The superintendent and librarian were all that were present except two ladies and a few scholars. William and Henry Jones, sons of Thomas Jones have attended school the most of the year but their names have not been entered until today. School closed until the first Sunday in March next.

March 27, 1853 - J. W. Crittenden, Supt. ; Jno I. Whitaker, Librarian; Olivar I. Mead, Teacher; William Whitaker, Teacher;

April 10, 1853 - School opened with singing and prayer by Brother Dodson. Brother Dodson visited the school today. And Brother Gaskill came in after the school was opened. Raining today and very good order with the scholars.

April 24, 1853 - School opened with s&p by Jno. I. Whitaker.

May 8, 1853 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden.

May 22, 1853 - School opened with s&p by Brother Dodson.

June 12, 1853 - School opened with s&p by J. W. Crittenden.

August 14, 1853 - Very few out this morning in time to go through with their lessons. Brother Blanton Elder opened by prayer and Brother John Elder gave the school a very appropriate address on the importance of Sabbath School.

March 12, 1854 - School opened with s&p by Brother W. W. Dodson. Antioch Sabbath School met according to adjournment last October. present - J. W. Crittenden, Supt., Jno. I. Whitaker, Librarian; and Rev. W. W. C. Dodson;

March 26, 1854 - Very good order in school today. The weather very cold and windy. Daniel K. Gilmore consented to be a teacher.

April 9, 1854 - School opened with s&p by Jno. I. Whitaker; William Whitaker was present today and agreed to assist as a teacher.

April 23, 1854 - School opened with s&p by Brother Dodson. Weather pleasant and very good order in school today. The superintendent is very sick this morning.

May 14, 1854 - School opened with singing and prayer by Brother W. W. C. Dodson. Joseph W. Crittenden, the superintendant died April 30, 1854, 20 minutes after 4:00 PM. O. I. Mead took his place as a teacher. Mrs. Nancy K. Dodson and Mrs. Levicy Whitaker are now teachers. Weather unfavorable and some rain this morning. Very good order in school today. W. W. C. Dodson was appointed Superintendant.

May 27, 1854 - School opened with s&p by Brother Dodson. pleasant weather today; County Line Sabbath school invited this school by Brother William Ogletree, to attend a sabbath school celebration on the 4th day of July next at County Line Church, Spalding County.

July 23, 1854 - The school was not opened today on account of attending to the burial of Mrs. James Redding.

October 8,1854 - School opened with s&p by Jno. I. Whitaker. Very pleasant weather today. The mumps and whooping cough is in some families of the neighborhood and Mrs. Crittenden little babe died last night with the whooping cough.

October 22, 1854 - School opened with s&p by W. C. W. Dodson; Very good order in school today. Several spectators out and among them Miss Julian R. Smarr. The school closed until the 2nd Sabbath in March next. Jno. I. Whitaker, Libr.

March 11, 1855 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by W. W. C. Dodson. The school met according to adjournment last fall. Present W.W. C. Dodson, Supt. and Jno. I. Whitaker, Librarian and Levicey Whitaker; Absent were D. K. Gilmore; O. T. Mead, moved to Alabama. William Whitaker moved to the 9th of Fayette County, Ga.

March 25, 1855 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by Jno. I. Whitaker. Very cold weather. Very good order in school today. Brother Daniel K. Gilmore took his place as teacher. Also Brother James M. Redding agrees to be a teacher. The Superintendent is absent.

August 26, 1855 - Very Warm weather; Gabriel Close(?) two sons returned their books and left the school. Cause not known. Elizabeth Crow has moved from the neighborhood.

April 13, 1856 - School opened with reading and prayer by Brother J. M. Sperlin. The school opened today by the Reverend J. M. Sperlin. Wiley Jones Gay was present and assisted in teaching, also Brother Sperlin. John I. Whitaker, Librarian.

April 27, 1856 - Simon T. Whitaker and Levicy Whitaker have consented to act as teachers. also Mr. Charles Dukes promised to attend when he could.

May 25, 1856 - Pleasant weather today. Appointed S. T. Whitaker , Superintendent. T. B. Gay promised to attend and assist in teacher. The prayer meeting is appointed on the 4th Sunday after school is dismissed and on the 2nd Sunday in the evening at 3 o�clock.

June 8, 1856 - The superintendent is absent on account of affliction in his family. Mr. Lee�s son has left the school by going back home to Fayetteville. Very good order in school today.

June 22, 1856 - Brother S. T. Whitaker�s child is still very low and prevents his attending school today. Very good order in school today.

July 13, 1856 - Owing to the death of Brother S. T. Whitaker�s little daughter, Mary Jane, on Saturday 12th last. The Librarian and part of the school was absent. The child was buried at the church graveyard on Sunday, no memorandum of those present were made today. Librarian.

August 24, 1856 - Owing to the protracted meeting at this place, there was no school on the second Sunday in this month, owing to meetings that are going on in several places and some afflictions we have a small school today of both teachers and scholars. very good order in school today.

September 14, 1856 - meeting going on at Whitewater some of the teachers and scholars have gone there today. Very good order in school today.

September 28,1856 - The librarian cannot account for the thin turn out today. Present Brother Robert C. Porter.

October 26, 1856 - Brethren Robert C. Porter and Wiley Jones Gay were present and assisted in school today. The school closed today for the present year and until the 2nd Sunday in March, 1857. John I. Whitaker, Librarian.

April 12, 1857 - The weather very unpleasant. Brethren S. T. Whitaker, Allen Reeves and John I. Whitaker were present today.

April 26, 1857 - Pleasant weather. Brother Spurlin explained passages of scripture that was given by the brethren to him, with the request to explain. Brother Gabriel W. Cox(?) [believe to be Gabriel H. Cox was present and assisted in hearing lessons.

May 10, 1857 - Pleasant weather. Brethren Porter and G. M. Cox (?) [believe to be G. H. Cox was present and assisted in hearing lessons. Miss Mary Ann Spurlin and Miss Julianna Fitts was present and took part in school and Miss Fitts consented to be a teacher. Good order in school today.

May 24, 1857 - Mr. Newton Fitts was present and assisted also, Richard Whitaker. Very good order in school today.

June 14, 1857 - Mr. James M. Redding�s son , Zachariah, is now going to school in Campbell County. Very warm weather, several visitors at school today.

June 28, 1857 - Brethren Spurlin, W. J. Gay and W. R. Whitaker were present and attended to the school, the superintendent and librarian both absent.

July 12, 1857 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by John I. Whitaker. The librarian was without assistance except Mr. and Mrs. Turner.

August 9, 1857 - We have pleasant weather today. Owing to the general meeting that the teachers will have to attend, the school is dismissed until 2nd September next.

Owing to the negligence and indifference of the officers and teachers the Sabbath School was not kept up through the year 1858.

March 13, 1859 - School opened with reading and prayer by Brother Jas. M. Spurlin. A few brethren met this morning to organize a Sunday School. Brother James M. Spurlin was appointed superintendant and John I. Whitaker, Librarian. Robert C. Porter and Thomas B. Gay agreed to assist in teaching. Miss Mary Ann Spurlin, female teacher.

March 27, 1859 - Pleasant weather and very good order in school today. Brother John M. Porter was with us and agrees to assist in this Sabbath School.

April 10, 1859 - School opened with reading and singing and prayer by Brother John M. Porter. School closed with singing and prayer by Brother Robert C. Porter. Very good order in school today. Brother Simon T. Whitaker was present and agreed to assist in teaching.

September 11, 1859 was the last entry and then there are notes penciled in by someone at a later date, that read No school in 1858. No school in 1860,1861,1862,1863,1864, and 1865. Sunday school commenced at Antioch in 1828 and continued to the close of 1857 and in 1859, then commenced in 1866.

April 8, 1866 - Antioch Sabbath School was organized by appointing Rev. W. W. C. Dodson, Superintendent; John I. Whitaker, Librarian. Z. C. Fort; C. C. Sams; Mrs. Sarah M. Sams. The school meets on the second and fourth Sabbath.

There are a few notes for 1866 and then a note of no school in 1867. Resumed in 1868.

August 9, 1868 - Sabbath School at Antioch, Robert C. Porter, Superintendent; John R. Smarr, Assistant Supt.; Jno I. Whitaker, Librarian; Sidney McLean, Teacher; Wm. S. Whitaker, Teacher; Mrs. Kittie Gay, Teacher; Miss Nannie Seagraves, Teacher.

August 23, 1868 - Brother Sidney McLean is absent on account of sickness with himself and family. Meeting at White Plains church this evening has prevented some of the brethren and children from attending prayer meeting and Sunday School.

September 13, 1868 - School opened with prayer by Brother John R. Smarr and closed with prayer by Brother Porter. Very good order in school with the pupils and spectators. weather very warm and showers. Brother Sidney McLane and his family has been quite sick is the cause of is absence this evening.

September 27, 1868 - Librarian being absent at the Association the number present was not taken this is written October 11, 1868.

October 11, 1868 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by Du McLean. Owing to the inclemency of the weather and sickness in the settlements but few are out this evening.

April 25, 1869 - Admitted as teachers - Z. C. Fort; Miss Asia M. Williams; Brother J. R. Smarr. John I. Whitaker, Librarian.

May 9, 1869 - Present R. C. Porter, Jno. R. Smarr, J. F. McLane, Z. C. Fort, L. C. Roberts. Miss Asia Ann Williams.

May 23, 1869 - Present - Jno. R. Smarr, J. F. McLane and L. C. Roberts. Miss Asia Ann Williams, Miss Martha C. Smarr (former teacher of the school) visited the school today and aided in the teaching.

July 4, 1869 - Reading, singing and prayer by Robert C. Porter. Brother Jno. L. Dodd give the school an interesting lecture which was well received by the school and congregation.

September 19, 1869 - School opened with reading, singing and prayer by Brother Hubbard. present, J. R. Smarr, J. I. Whitaker, and Brother M. W. Hubbard.

May 18, 1870 - School opened with reading singing and prayer by Robert C. Porter, Superintendent. John R. Smarr, Asst. Supt., J.F. McLain, L. C. Roberts, W. W. M. Gay , Mrs. Kitty Gay. Teachers. Owing to measles in the neighborhood but few attend. John I. Whitaker, Librarian.

Antioch Baptist Church of Christ met in conference August 3, 1872. Took up the usual items of the church.

April 13, 1873 - Sunday School was opened by singing and prayers by the superintendent, Willis R. Whitaker. Closed by singing, J. R. Smarr.

April 20, 1873 - School opened by reading, singing and prayer by the superintendent Willis R. Whitaker. J. R. Smarr
