Hitchcock - Eva Nell Smith, 81, passed away on November 5, 2005 at her residence in Webster, Texas. She was born on June 4, 1924 in Statenville, Georgia. She had worked as a registered nurse for over 60 years and retired from UTMB with 20 years as a nurse practitioner.

Eva was preceded in death by her son, Michael David Smith in April, 2005.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Warren McCoy Smith; son Robert E. Smith; two daughters, Jackie Ann Kopanski and Vickie Lynne Rice who cared for their mother solely; and a son Charles L. Smith; three sisters, Bertha Whitman of Bethany, FL, Nelma Moore & Earline Suggs both of Mayday, GA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral services starting at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2005 with Reverend J Morris officiating at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

A lifelong resident of Howell, passed away at her home, yesterday. Mrs. Eck Deloach was 53 years old. She had been in bad health since March 1, due to a stroke.

She is survived by her husband, Eck, a brother Charley Jordan of Dade City, Florida and a brother Johnny Jordan of Gainesville, Florida.

Mrs. Deloach�s body was taken back to her home by Carson McLane Funernal Home yesterday. This afternoon funeral services were held at the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church. Officiating the service was Rev. Leonard Cochran, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Valdosta. She was laid to rest at the Way- Fare Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

A funeral was conducted yesterday at the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church for Mrs. Eck Deloach, 53 years old. Mrs. Deloach passed away at her home on Tuesday.

Officiating the funeral service was Rev. Leonard Cochran.

The pallbearers were: Jim Deloach, Dr. J.W. Penninton, L.L. Parrish, B.J. Cowart, L.S. Davis and W.H. Herrin, Jr.

The committal and the benediction ended the service.

Carson McLane Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.

H. Walker Smith, 81, wellknown and respected resident of Echols County, died at his home near Statenville Saturday night after an illness of about a week. He was a victim of heart trouble.

The funeral services were held at the Statenville cemetery yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. L.A. Harrell, pastor of the First Methodist Church of this city in charge.

Survivors are his widow, five daughters and five sons. The daughters are: Mrs. Ludie Covington, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. J. C. Fenney, Tarpon Springs, Fla., Mrs. Von Lee Tomlinson, Statenville, Mrs. Rader Copeland, Valdosta, and Mrs. Sallie Staten, of Statenville. The sons are: Jesse Smith of Bradenton, Fla., and Willie, Tommie, Leon and Homer all of Statenville. A brother, Britton Smith of Jasper also survives.

Pallbearers were: Ben Daniels, Furman Staten, Deward Petersen, Walter Staten, T.W. Kinsey and Ernie Clayton. Singers were: Mrs. J.L. Prine, Mrs. J.F. Colson, Mrs. H.Y. Prine, Mrs. Mamie Herrington, M. M. Sowell, W.D. Clayton and H.Y. Prine. They sang: "Shall We Gather at the River", "Sweet Bye and Bye", and "Where We'll NeverGrow Old".

The body was removed from Carson McLane's Funeral Home yesterday morning and carried to the home where it remained until the time of the funeral.
