New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery
Pumpkinvine Road and Hwy 78
Villa Rica, Georgia 30180

From Highway 78, (going west) New Hope Cemetery is located one mile inside the city limits of Villa Rica, in Douglas County, Georgia. It is about three-quarter (¾) mile east of the downtown area. It can be seen from Hwy. 78. Going west from Hwy. 78. pass the cemetery and about a quarter of a mile, you will see Connor Road, turn rt. and go down to next road, which is the old Pumpkinvine Road, turn right and it will take you to cemetery. The Department of Transportation has completed a new exit (#26) and entrance ramp from I20 Interstate and this ramp road runs Northeast of the cemetery. The new road is called Mirror Lake Boulevard/Pumpkinvine Road and the cemetery is visible from this road. This new road replaces the old Pumpkinvine Road that runs right by the cemetery. From Mirror Lake/Pumpkinvine Rd. go to Connor Road, turn left and then another left down to cemetery.

New Hope Primitive Baptist Church is located on Connor Road, which is north of the cemetery. There is a large grove of trees between the Church and Cemetery and neither can be seen from the other. A dirt road runs behind the church and goes down to the cemetery.

The cemetery lots do not seem to be in straight lines. The survey was started with the first row of graves next to Pumpkinvine Road and half way down the first row, several lots jut out from the first row. This jutted area was then considered to be row one, lot one, and grave one. It contains the Easterwood family graves. It is impossible to accurately list the row and grave numbers due to the rows extending into a row on either side of it. In other words, row 4 could contain lots or graves from row three (3) and five (5). Therefore the row numbers are listed as approximate rows.

A similar situation exits for the grave numbers as there are so many unmarked graves. There are many graves with some sort of a stone that could or could not be to mark the grave. Therefore, the rows and grave numbers are mainly indications to help locate an approximate area to find a grave.
