J. H. Callaway

The Marietta Journal
April 5, 1894

Prof Selman and J. T. Easley received the news of the death of Prof J. H. Callaway Sunday morning and they went to attend the funeral services Monday in Douglasville where he has been living for some time, and has been principal of the college there, and who has been a grand man in that community. On last Friday night, while partially insane he shot himself through the head with a .38 calibre pistol, and lived only 30 minutes. The funeral was conducted by Dr Candler. Prof Callaway was bothered over his financial condition and physical health and that is supposed to be the cause.
