Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery Inscriptions DeKalb County, GA MT. PLEASANT BAPTIST CEMETERY DeKalb County, GA This is a cemetery that covers about an acre of land yet has few marked graves. It appears to have quite a few unmarked however. There are several stones piled under a number of trees in the cemetery that may have been formerly used to mark graves but were moved. It is on Porter Road which is off of Kensington Rd near the DeKalb Animal Shelter. It is an African American cemetery and according to a long-time resident is the cemetery for that neighborhood. The graves face south unless otherwise noted. Some of the headstones appear to be "handwritten" as if written by hand in wet cement. Many have the names "Cox", "Cox Bros.", "Haumabrooks", or "Tyler" at the top which are the names of local black funeral homes. "Unmarked" means there is a headstone with no inscription.
