Archives, Libraries and Special Collections

 Archives & Libraries:

Atlanta History Center:  Located in the Buckhead in North Atlanta

DeKalb Historical Society:  Located in downtown Decatur

DeKalb County Public Library:  The Decatur branch of the DeKalb Public Library has a Special Collections Room dedicated to genealogy.  They have a good collection of Atlanta City Directories available.

Emory University Special Collections:  Located in DeKalb County, Emory has an extensive manuscript collection.  Search their collections online.

Georgia Department of Archives and History:  The center for genealogical research in Georgia.  They have many DeKalb records in their microfilm holdings.  Visit their reference page for more information.

Gwinnett Historical Society:  Located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, the Gwinnett Historical Society has several genealogical publications.  Since they're DeKalb's next door neighbors, researchers may find their publications of use.
