I an looking for the parents of Jordan SPIVEY. Jordan and Sarah Chappell
TWITTY were married in Watson County Georgia in 1828 and 6 of their 7
children were born in Meriwether County. One of their sons, Anderson
Mark Spivey, born 1883, was my great grandfather. I have read that
Jordan's first name might be Louis.
He was born in 1807 in Georgia. I have two
clues- Benjamin Spivey Jr. born in Isle of Wright, in 1786,
Moved to GA in the early 1800. He and his wife, Hannah (?) had 11
children, one of them named Jordan . The other possibility is James
Spivey born 1775, fought in the War of 1812. He and his wife,
Elizabeth Jane Locke, had about 12 children but I don't know
their location. Can anyone help me?

I am trying to find a mention in an old newspaper of a marriage
that took place in June of 1915 between James Monroe
WOOTEN of Shellman,
Georgia, and Gladys BRAMLETT of Decatur. Are
there newspapers available for this era and
is there someone who can do a lookup?
Jane Wooten Waller I am seeking my great uncle and family of Clifford L. Near b. Wisconsin 1861 who moved to Atlanta in the 1890s, and married in about 1897 Arcadia Dowdell b. 11/28/1872, fathered Clifford Near b. 1898, Arcadia Near b. 1901 and Janie Near b. 1902. Clifford Sr. worked for the Atlanta newspapers. and died presumably in Atlanta in 1948. Any and all references to them would be appreciated. Tom Near copyright Vivian Price Saffold 2002-current |
