APPLING on 6 October 1807.

4 January 1817 - ICHABOD PHILLIPS purchased from AMOS NEWSOME, both of Columbia County , for $800.00, 2 tracts of land containing 557 acres adjoining each other, partly in Columbia County and partly in Richmond County , on waters of Brier Creek and Headstall Creek. 1 tract of 200 acres granted to James Bailey 21 February 1775 . The other tract containing 357 acres adjoining the above, granted to WILLIAM WALTON 5 October 1790 , being a part of a 1000 acre tract on survey.

4 February 1809 - ICHABOD PHILLIPS purchased from COLOURS BENEFIELD, both of Columbia County, for $250.00, 300 acres; 100 of which was originally granted to EDWARD PRATTS [EDWARD PRATHER] 3 July 1787 as a part of a tract lying on both sides of Boggy Gut; also, one other tract adjoining former and bounded Northwardly by vacant land, Northeast by GARDNER land; that tract containing 200 acres and originally granted to JOHN NORTH 4 December 1790.....in fee simple*.

15 February 1828 - ICHABOD PHILLIPS sold to JOHN PARISH for $125.00, 297 acres more or less, 100 acres of which was originally granted to EDWARD PRATHER 3 July 1787, that 100 acres being part of tract lying on both sides of Boggy Gut; also, 1 other tract of land adjoining the former and bounded northwardly by vacant land and Northeast by GARDNER  land; said tract containing 200 acres and originally granted to JOHN NORTH 4 December 1790.....in fee simple.

9 October 1835 - JOHN PARISH sold to SIMMONS CRAWFORD for $100.00, 297 acres, more or less, on waters of Silver Run and Boggy Gut, containing 200 acres granted to JOHN NORTH 4 December 1790, and conveyed by JOHN NORTH to JACOB FUDGE 15 January 1807, and conveyed by JACOB FUDGE to COLOURS BENEFIELD on 3 September 1808, and from COLOURS BENEFIELD to ICHABOD PHILLIPS in February 1809, and from ICHABOD PHILLIPS to JOHN PARISH 15 February 1828. Also, one tract of 100 acres granted to EDWARD PRATHER in July 1785, and conveyed down to FRANCIS GRUBBS and conveyed down with the before described 200 acres to JOHN NORTH and whereon the said JOHN PARISH now lives adjoining lands at present [owned] by WILLIAM ODOM, JOHN MESSEN, land of LOVELL and CRAWFORD and others.

10 April 1818 - BUD PHILLIPS sold to SILAS MONK for $300.00, 400 acres on waters of Sandy Run adjoining land belonging to the heirs of THURSBOY BROWN and lands surveyed for GEORGE FEE.  300 acres of said land was originally granted to THOMAS ADAMS, the other 100 acres to EDWARD PRATER [PRATHER].

30 November 1837 - MICAJAH PHILLIPS, of Columbia County , purchased from SIMMONS CRAWFORD and LEWIS LOVELL, both of Richmond County , for $400.00, 300 acres more or less on waters of Boggy Gut Creek adjoining lands of JOHN MASSEY, MATTHEW WASHINGTON, and lands of said LOVELL AND CRAWFORD. 100 acres of which was granted to WILLIAM WILLIAMS of a 200 acres tract; the other 100 acres granted to BURNELL BULLOCK, conveyed to SILAS MONK and from MONK to JACOB FUDGE; from FUDGE to D. McNAIR, from McNAIR to F. F. ALLEN and from them to LOVELL AND CRAWFORD.

Book OO 1847 -1854; page 24; Mortgage - Bill of Sale:
6 January 1847 - ELLIS PHILLIPS promises to pay MATTHEW PHILLIPS and WILLIS PALMER, executors of the Estate of ICHABOD PHILLIPS, deceased, $600.00 before 24 December 1847 . In consideration of $5.00 paid by said WILLIS and MATTHEW to ELLIS, to ensure the paying of the aforesaid Promissory Note, ELLIS sells unto WILLIS PALMER and MATTHEW PHILLIPS, a certain negro man, MARTIN, about 27 years old. When the $600.00 plus interest is paid, this contract shall be void.

14 May 1858 - JAMES A. HALL stands indebted to MATTHEW PHILLIPS for $527.18 as by reference whereas on 2 January 1855 JAMES A. HALL was indebted to FRANCIS M. HOBBS and I. G. D. HUFF, Administrators of the Estate of DAVID H. HUFF, deceased, and the further sum of $270.33 in a certain other promissory note for which MATTHEW PHILLIPS stood security for JAMES A. HALL.  Said JAMES A. HALL for and in consideration of said debt, or sum of $697.51, and for better securing the payment thereof with interest that may accrue, plus $10.00 paid to him by MATTHEW PHILLIPS, do sell to said MATTHEW PHILLIPS 2 lots of land in Columbia County containing 150 acres, more or less, adjoining lands formerly owned by GUILFORD ALFORD on the South, HARRIS and HOBBS on the West, JAMES A. HALL on the North and JOHN S. EVANS and HALL on the east; said land having been purchased from JOHN S. EVANS on 28 November 1853 and surveyed by STEPHEN DRANE on 1 December 1853. the other lot of land containing 150 acres, more or less, on the waters of Fort Creek, being part of a tract of land originally granted to DANIEL SMITH and described in a deed from ROBERT LOTT to ALFRED HALL 5 May 1849. When $697.51 is paid to MATTHEW PHILLIPS by HALL or his representatives, this contract will be void.

18 November 1816 - ZADOCK McGRUDER for $400.00 sells to WILDER PHILLIPS, both of Columbia County, that tract of land or plantation whereon P. MACKSOME now lives, lying on the waters of Headstall Creek containing 200 acres, more or less, 150 acres being in part of a tract of land granted to JOSIAH WRITE 22 January 1789 and the other 50 acres bounded on southside by Headstall Creek and by land originally granted to FREDERICK BROWN and bounded on Westside of creek by JOHN MAGAHA lands, and Eastwardly by JOHN MAGAHA lands.

19 February 1819 – JOHN YOUNGBLOOD gives to ISHAM PHILLIPS and POLLY PHILLIPS, “his wife,” all of Columbia County, a certain negro boy SAMUEL (or so it appears) – “I do freely and voluntarily make this deed of gift to the said ISHAM and POLLY out of pure goodwill and affection I bear toward” them “as well as for many other good causes and just reasons” but “be it known and understood that I am to keep the boy in my possession during my natural lifetime and the life of my wife then and thereafter to be theirs forever.”

19 February 1819 – WILDER PHILLIPS for $400.00, sells to ISHAM PHILLIPS, both of Columbia County, “all that tract of land or plantation whereon the said ISHAM PHILLIPS now lives, lying” on the waters of Headstall Creek containing 200 acres, more or less, 150 acres being part of a tract granted to ISAIAH WRIGHT 22 January 1787 and the other 50 acres bounded on he Southeasterly by land originally granted to FREDERICK BROWN.
