~~ Daddy Shaw told a hilarious incident during WWII about a boy from Milstead who went into the service of his country. After serving a few weeks "up North ... North Georgia or North Carolina", as Daddy Shaw told it, he came home on leave, walked into the barber shop and in his new curt "Northern brogue" looked at Mr. Shaw and said, "My oh my, Grady how you have aged." I laugh every time I think of the way Daddy Shaw told this story ... I think Monroe Butler was the soldier. ~~ ~ Ruth Shaw, 4/15/2004 |
