'I have a copy of an article from the Rockdale Citizen, Wednesday, November 11, 1998. The title is Remembering Veterans “War to End All Wars’ claimed one Rockdale Son on Europe’s Battlefields. It tells the story of Charles Douglas Granger of Milstead the only Rockdale County service man to die in combat in WWI. He was my grandmother’s first cousin. He was 24 years old when he was called to serve and was killed in battle in France. In December 1919 the American Legion organized in Conyers and was named the Charles D. Granger Post.' ~ Sincerely, Susan Vaughn, January 24, 2005 |
