Discussion:
This same cemetery is described in an article excerpted the "Old Campbell County Historical Society Newsletter", Vol. 17, Number 2, on page 15. They credit Joe Baggett who published the record in the "Douglas County., Ga. Genealogy" (1981) as their source. I have visited this cemetery several times in the past 10 years; initially with my aged father. My father located the cemetery about 20 years prior to this time in his quest to locate the graves of the sons of Abner Smith , his maternal great-great grandfather. Abner came from Ireland to SC where he fought and was wounded in the Rev. War. Later in life, because of his veteran status, Abner received two draws of 202.5 acre plots in the 1828 GA Land Lottery - one in Coweta and the other in Carroll Counties (now Douglas). In his will -- recorded in Newnan, GA -- Abner willed the 202.5 acres in Carroll county to his youngest son Moses Smith. Abner is buried in a small cemetery on the 202.5 acre plot in Coweta Co. that he willed to his older son, John B. Smith.
