Hello!! I'm looking for JESSIE COOK & first wife, Elizabeth------? He married Narcissia Gossett 2nd. He was born ca. 1806 /07 in Ga. according to the census, he died ca. 1880 , looking for his grave and anything , Gossett is NARCISSIA'S first husband's name, so I understand. She applied for homestead exemption in 1880, in Campbell county, Ga. Jessie was in Fayette county, GA. in 1830, that part of Fayette became CAMPBELL county ,Ga. There are several JESSE'S / JESSIE'S, My grandfather Pinkney Fillmore Cook was born in RED OAK, Campbell in 1880 . His daddy was JESSIE P. COOK and his mother was NANCY J. GRIFFITH I've been researching my family who lived in Campbell Cty. from abt 1810-1816 until about 1865. This is the family of Andrew J. (be lived to be Jackson) Griffith, b. NC, 6-10-1810 to 12-25-1875, and his wife Mary (believed to be a Ballard), b.Ga., 10-4-1812 to 5-28-1883. They had 8 Children: Elizabeth 1836, George Washington on, 1838, Andrew J. Jr., 1840, Mary Ann, 1842, James, 1844, Abraham, abt. 1846, Sarah S., 1850, Angeline, 1851. I have info I'd like to share with other Griffith researchers. I also would like to locate the graves of both George & Andrew Jr. Andrew Jr. died of pneumonia at Camp Johnson Va. on 1-18-1862 George is reported to have been shot, while home on fur low on 4-25-1862. Any newspapers or church bulletins available, other printed information sources? I also would like to know more about the other children, some of which stayed in Campbell after the parents moved to Tennessee. A big order, but would like to communicate with other interested parties. Other family names connected to the Griffith: Ballard, Eskew, Land, Rainwater. Appreciate any help you might offer. HICKS I am researching Thomas Hicks who won land in 1832 land lottery 4th District 2nd Section. I believe him to be my GGGG grandfather. He would have fathered Alfred B, Isola, Elmira, and George Walton Hicks. I know George Walton was born in Campbell county in 1828. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. JONES Hi, we are looking for any information that will lead us to the family of Joseph Roscoe Jones, b. 28 May 1895 Campbell Co., Ga. - d.26 Mar 1966, Houston, Harris Co., Tx. His Father Randolph Jones was found on the 1880 census of Valdsota, Lowndes Co., Ga. along with his siblings Zella b. 1878 and Joseph b. 1879/80. Randolph's father is shown as William Jones b. 1854, and mother as Julia (u/k) b. 1857. Joseph Roscoe entered the military in 5 Aug 1918 at Fairburn Fulton Co., Ga. served in France and his discharge on 31 July 1919 was Honorable as issued at Camp Gordon Ga. He moved to Clodine Tx in 1921 and married. The family would like to back track the family line and possibly find his sister's or brother's lines or other family members. MASON I am conducting research on the Masons and related families of Campbell County, focusing on the family of James Mason and wife Martha Bomar Wood who emigrated to Campbell from Spartanburg, SC in 1833. James initially settled in Sandtown (731 MD), later moving to the 733 MD (Campbellton) and finally the 734 MD (Tell), as did several of his siblings. James was a farmer. Justice of the Peace, and later Justice of the Inferior Court in Campbell County. The Masons were initially members of Utoy Baptist Church in DeKalb County becoming members of Enon Baptist Church in tell at the time of its formation.

Related families include those of Moses Ham Smith, the Reverend James Rainwater, John Hindman, John Gideon/Giddings/Giddens, and in Coweta County Green B. Doster. James'children include Francis Matilda Cook, w/o William N. Cook, John Wilburn Mason, Jabez Grant Mason, Robert Wood Mason, Emily Jane Renfroe/Rentfro, wife of Maj. William Henry Renfroe, James Miles Mason, and William Gilbert Mason. Other families related by marriage include the Smiths (David D., DeKalb Co.), Woods (John), Harts (Carroll Co.), Russells (Alabama), Rileys(Newton/Campbell/Douglas), Kelleys (Noah Marion Gilbert), Bomars, (Benjamin T.), and Venables (John).

Seeking information on Annie Laurie SMITH. According to her obituary she was born on Aug. 1, 1866 in Fairburn, GA. (Campbell Co.) She married John A. THOMPSON in 1883 in Fulton Co. John came to Texas first and worked until he could send for his family. They moved to Roxton, TX in Lamar Co. then Fairlie, TX in Hunt Co. in 1885 and then to Commerce, TX in 1914 where they lived until their time of death. Their children were Verner, Welborn Littleton, Gaynell, Aldo Clark, Robert Riley, Felton Gather, John Clinton, Agnes Evyonne, Wylie Verdell and Brantley E. all born in TX. I am seeking the names of both her parents and of her spouse John A. Thompsons parents, since I am at a dead end, not knowing any brothers or sisters names on either side. Family stories say that the father of John A. Thompson owned a farm not far from Atlanta and died of pneumonia while serving the Confederacy and the family was sent word of this by messenger.
