Dickey Cemetery

From Highway 37 in Edison, take Hwy 216 north. Go to mile marker 11, approximately 2 miles. Look to the right on top of a hill to a group of trees. The only way to this cemetery is through the field owned by the Sealy family.
This long-ago abandoned cemetery was brought to our attention by Sam Beckham, Edison, GA, who hunted quail in this area years ago. There are numerous depressions of graves all over the area, but no markers can be found. Both black and white are buried here as told to us by Willie Goins, Edison, GA, an elderly man once an undertaker in Edison years ago. He stated that the cemetery name probably was derived from the Dickey family that lived in the area long ago.
