Note: After speaking with Ellen Martin, librarian and expert with the counties records, she assures me that if Richard Oglesbee had been a resident of the county, or died in the county, there probably would have been a probate record of his estate, even if there was no will. No such records could be found, therefore we assume he may have owned land, but not been a resident of Laurens County at the time of his death.

Josep Babb } This Indenture made this sixth day of January one thousand eight Hundred and one between William Donahou and Marthy Donahou his wife of Laurens District of the one part and Joseph Babb of the said District of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Donahou & Martha Donahou his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of five hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Babb the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted Bargained, Sold & confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Joseph Babb his heirs Executors administrators or assigns for ever one certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred acres be it more or less Situated in the District aforesaid on the waters of Cane Creek joining Lands of Joseph Babb southeast on one part Northwest on the other part all other sides vacant land ori ginally Granted unto Allen Brown conveyed from Allen Brown to Richard Oglesbee by lease and Release conveyed Richard Oglesbee to Ann Oglesbee, Admnistrators James Oglesbee Elijah Oglesbee Daniel Oglesbee Moses Oglesbee Richard Oglesbee the sons and heirs of Richard Oglesbee Deceased conveyed to the above subscibers unto William Donahou by a deed of conveyance conveyed from the said William Donahou unto Joseph Babb to have unto hold the said Land and premises with all the privileges and appertinances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining to the said Josep Babb his heirs & assigns forever against the said William Donahou his heirs & assigns and against the claim and demand of any other persons whatsoever do and shall by these presents warrant and forever defend in witness whereof the said William Donahou hath hereunto set our hand and seal the day and year above written.

James Oglesbee Elijah Oglesbee Daniel Oglesbee Moses Oglesbee Richard Oglesbee the sons and heirs of Richard Oglesbee, Deceased. Conveyed to the ------ Subscribers unto William Donahou with all and singular the rights m------ H -------taments and appertinances to the said premises belonging --have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto said William Donahou his heirs and assigns forever and will ----- bind ourselves our ----- Executors and administrators to warrant and defend forever all and Singular the above mentioned premises unto the aforesaid William Donahou his heirs and assigns against ourselves and against all other persons claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof Lawfully. Sworn ------ me this thirteenth day of December 1800.
