Searching for any information on a Methodist Orphan's Home operated in Macon, GA at least from
1900-1910. I found my grandmother Mattie Rebecca Belyeu there in the 1900 census along with

as sons of Willis and Tharp sisters he marries. Are these three related? How? Who is their
father? They may be related to John Boon of Baldwin Co. There was a John Boon and a

1855)? Neither Charles nor Parthenia made the move to Texas with
their mother. Mary Ann recorded on the 1880 Rusk County TX census
as spouse of Horace Barton, also of GA.

Mahala Willoughby (b. ca.1817 GA) was in Bibb County about 1833,
probably living with her elder brother, Solomon and his wife Phebe.
Mahala was pregnant and possibly widowed at the time. She had
married a John Deshazer in Houston Co. on 01 July 1833. According
to marriage records, she marries a Richard Smith in Bibb Co., GA in
August of 1834. Her children are seen on the 1850 census of Pike Co,
GA in the home of her brother, Solomon (who had moved to Pike Co).
They were Aaron "Deshaser", Richard Smith, Jr., Elizabeth Smith, and
John Smith. I don't know what happened to either of her husbands.
The Smith children were born in AL. They must have been somewhere
in AL in 1840. I am a descendant of Palmer Neal Deshazo (son of
Aaron and Margaret Louise (Winters) Deshasier). Mahala's parents
were Aaron and Sarah (Benson) Willoughby (b. ca. 1765 NC). Please
respond!! I have information that I would love to share.

who lived in Augusta, GA, from before 1924 to after 1932. They had at least three children:
1) Tommy Miles Hankins was a dancer and a comedian, as well as an employee of Friedman's
Jewelers. He died in a tragic accident in 1932 and is buried in Westover Cemetery in Augusta.
He was unmarried.
2) Unknown Daughter Hankins married R. E. May and they were living in Macon, GA, in 1932.
3) Maude Hankins was single and living in Augusta, GA, in 1932.
Sarah Miles Faucett Hankins died in Milledgeville State Hospital in December 1957. She is buried in

My Great Aunt, Mary Bass Merritt was born 14 November 1871 in
Bibb County and died 24 October 1945 in Macon. She was the daughter
of William Clinch Merritt and Nancy Samantha Jones Merritt.
Family legend says she was involved in a train wreck in late 1899 or
1900. The train was leaving Macon, and plunged off the trestle into
the river. Since Mary was able to swim, she helped in the rescue of
fellow passengers and for this was rewarded by the railroad. Would

Toombs Co, GA sometime around 1920. She was born in Bradford Co, FL c.1899-1906. She may
have married in Bibb Co, name of husband unknown. In any event, she had a daughter named
Ruth and lived for a while with a friend from Toombs Co, Miss Vollie Collins, in Macon. Also is
believed to have lived with her uncle, Lawton F. Gordon (1888-1927), a veteran of WWI who lived
in Macon c. 1920-1927. Information on him is also needed. Any information or advice welcome!
