Oct. 18, 1898 Mrs Kimbrell Dead: She was the wife of the Well Known Police Officer. Mrs Mary Lou Kimbrell, wife of Police Officer Thomas J. Kimbrell, died at 12:50 O'clock yesterday after a long illness with consumption. Mrs Kimbrell leaves three small children, two of whom are twins, and they together with the sorrowing husband have the sympathy of their large number of friends: Mrs Kimbrell was the daughter of Mr and Mrs J. W. Cronin and was a woman dearly beloved by those who knew her. The funeral will take place from St. Barnabas church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and the interment will be at Jones Chapel Cemetery. The pall bearers will be Messrs Sires J. McCoy, G. Hightower, John Martin, James Jenkins and John Wyche.

 November 7, 1898 The Macon News: Mr. James Hightower, a brother of Mr. J.S. Hightower of South Macon, died last night about 11 o'clock. He had been for several weeks suffering with consumption and his death was not unexpected. His death occurred at his home near Waverly Church in the southern suburbs. He leaves a wife and one brother to mourn his seemingly untimely death. Mr. Hightower was about 40 years of age. His funeral will occur either at his residence or Jones Chapel Church of which he was a consistent member, this evening or tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Interment at Jones Chapel Cemetery.

April 19, 1899: Hurley in South Macon. Tuesday morning April 18, 1899 Mrs Jessie Lou Hurley, aged 23 years, daughter of W. F. and S. E. Heyton and stepdaughter of W. T. Parker. Funeral services from Jones Chapel this Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock Friends invited to Interment in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

April 5, 1911: Lucile, the bright little 19 month - old dau. of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hammond, died at the home of her parents, 718 Oak Street, yesterday afternoon shortly after 5 o'clock. The child had been sick only a few hours and her death was a shock to her parents and the many friends of the family. The funeral, conducted by Rev. J.M. Foster, pastor of the First Street Methodist church, will be held at the residence of her parents, this (Wednesday) afternoon, at 3:30 o'clock. The interment will be made in Jones Chapel cemetery.

July 22, 1911: Mrs. Emily Hightower, aged 76, died at her residence on Daly Street, South Macon, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after an illness of several months. She is survived by three sons, J.W., J.H., and D. L. Hightower, and one daughter. The funeral will be held at the residence this (Saturday) afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. J. W. Domingos, pastor of the Second Street Methodist Church, officiating. The interment will be made in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Jan. 9, 1909: Mr I. Hightower Found Dead In Bed: Had been sick for some time. Veterans will attend funeral this afternoon. Mr. Isaac Hightower was found dead in bed yesterday morning by his stepson Mr. George Bright. Mr. Hightower has been in poor health for some time, and has been under the doctor's treatment for heart trouble. He got up to breakfast yesterday morning at 4 o'clock and told his stepson that he was feeling very badly and was going back to sleep. "You may find me dead when you call me." were his last words. Coroner T. E. Young held an inquest over the remains and the coroner's jury rendered a verdict that he came to his death from natural causes, and from the evidence brought out in the inquest the cause of his death was heart failure. He is survived by his wife, three children and a step-son, Mrs. Mary Brown, Messrs John S. and D. S. Hightower, and Mr George Bright. The funeral will take place from the family residence on Houston Road this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made at Jones Chapel Cemetery. The pallbearers will be veterans from Camp R. A. Smith of which he was a devoted member. The members of the R. A. Smith Camp of Confederate Veterans will meet at the courthouse at 1:30 PM to attend the funeral in a body.

Dec 31, 1918: Aaron L. J. Dewberry, aged 71 died last night at 9 o'clock at his residence, 735 Anderson St after an illness of five weeks from Bright's disease. Mr. Dewberry has been a railroad Foreman for many years, and worked for the Central of Georgia Railway between Macon, and Atlanta when the old wooden rails were in use. He was a member of the Second Street Methodist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B. B. Mathews, and Mrs. J. W. Lee of Macon; three sons, C. E., J. D. and A. H., all of Macon; two sisters and one brother. The funeral services will be held from the residence at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, Rev H. M. Morrison, pastor of the Second Street Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Dec. 15, 1919: J. M. Woods: The funeral services of J. M. Woods were postponed from 11 o'clock this morning to 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. The funeral will be held from his late residence, 125 Daly St, and conducted by Rev. J. N. Hudson, pastor of the Second Street Methodist Church. Interment will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Messrs. John and Jim Lackey, Gus Long, Charlie Mise, D. Campbell, and T. E. Burch. Mr. Woods died at the hospital Saturday morning at 7 o'clock from injuries received when he was ran over by an automobile a few days ago. He was 71 years of age, and had been a resident of Macon fifty years, moving here from Houston County. For several years he had been a member of the Second Street Methodist Church. Surviving him are his wife and son, and two daughters. M. D. Woods, Mrs. A. J. Barfield, and Mrs. Ben Hubbard; also one sister, Mrs. C. M. Mise. September 7, 1920: Mrs. Martha Johnson, widow of C. M. Johnson died at the home of her daughter at 761 Poplar Street Sunday evening at 10:20 o'clock after an illness of a week. Mrs. Johnson was a life-long resident of this city. She was a consistent member of the church, and her illness and death causes much regret to her many friends. Surviving her are two daughters and two sons. Mrs. W. E. Bullington, and Miss Tommie Willis, and W. W. Willis, all of Macon: E. J. Johnson of St. Louis, MO. funeral services will be from the residence this (Tuesday) afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Garrett of Atlanta, officiating and the interment will follow in the family lot in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The pallbearers will be A. M. Arnold, R. J. Hinson, J. M. Tidwell, S. W. Hutchins, J. B. Kennedy, and W. A. Wadsworth.

Dec. 23, 1920: Mrs. Elizabeth Hightower, widow of James Hightower died Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She was 82 years of age, and her death was due to old age. Mrs. Hightower lived in Bibb County all her life, and was a member of the Second Street Methodist church. Surviving are two brothers and three sisters: J. H. and V. A. Roquemore, Mrs. William Byrant, Misses Sarah and Ela Roquemore. The funeral services will be held at Hart's Chapel this Thursday morning at 11:30 o'clock. Rev J. N. Hudson, Pastor of the Second Street Methodist Church, officiating. The interment will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Nov. 30, 1893: Mr. William Hightower of South Macon died at his residence on Cedar Street on Tuesday at midnight, after a prolonged illness. The funeral took place from Jones Chapel on Wednesday afternoon. He was buried in the cemetery adjoining the chapel. Mr. Hightower had been a resident of South Macon for more than twenty-five years. During the time he has furnished the private dwellings, hotels and restaurants of the city with fish and game from the swamps and lagoons below the city. In season, and has become a well-known and well remembered character to all. Many of the beautiful shade trees that adorn our streets and avenues were planted by his hands. Amid all the hardships of his thus exposed life he has survived and spent a long life, he being nearly 70 years of at age at his death.

May 3, 1928: S. D. Hightower, aged 48 years, died at 11 o'clock Tuesday night at the Macon Hospital. Mr. Hightower was born and reared in Macon. he is survived by one brother, J. H. Hightower, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Brown of Macon. Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the chapel of L. H. Buirghard, 718 Cherry Street, Rev. R. T. Russell, Pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the family lot in Jones Chapel Cemetery. This concludes all that I have on death announcement and funeral service of persons buried in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
