Democratic Club of Baldwin
County
On April 27, 1868 the citizens of Baldwin
county met at Council Chamber at the City Hall and organized a calling
by Col. Miller Grieve, Sr to the Chair and appointed Thomas T. Windson
as Secretary.
It was moved by Dr. S.G. White and
seconded that the meeting resolved itself into a Democratic Club, irrespective
of color and be known as the Democratic Club of Baldwin County.
The purpose to open a list and that
all persons favoring the preservation of peace and good order, the supremacy
of law, promotion and success of Democratic principles and men.
Committee of five appointed suitable persons
as officers of this Club:
