Quarantine Station or Seafarers CemeteryIts location on the beach was sparsely-populated for years; however, headstones, photos, stones, and other remnants of information have surfaced from time to time. An article in the Pensacola News dated March 16, 1953, entitled, Wind-Blown Sands Covering Lonely Graves on Santa Rosa Island, by Mary Curry, mentions that an occasional beachcomber finds one or two headstones along the beach and lists information from three of the most recently discovered stones at that time. The story is still amazing today and a handful of names is now available. The list of names provided here are in alphabetical order and includes only the names of those interred. —Evan Strohl, Chairman, WFGS Cemetery Committee, 2006 Please send corrections, additions, or any other information to Evan Strohl, Chairman, WFGS Cemetery Committee, or the Webmaster.
