1986: The cemetery in the Cottage Hill community was surveyed and compiled by Evan Strohl and Beverly & Don Kenney and other members of the West Florida Genealogical Society (WFGS) in 1986 and published in Volume 1, Gravestone Registry, Escambia County, Fla. It was transcribed and contributed by WFGS member and former webmaster Ginny Deagan to the USGenWeb with permission of the WFGS Board of Directors.
2006: This church was founded as a mission in Nov 1962 and it was the original intention that cemetery plots were for interment of members only. The first burial, charter member, Rosa Lee Smyer, died before the building was finished and before the cemetery was even designated. It was remembered that she had said she wanted to be buried under the oak tree in the cemetery area.
This 209' x 136' cemetery is partially fenced and is neat and well-kept. There are approximately 90 graves here in 2006, twice the number when the survey was done in 1983. The cemetery has been platted and there are 280 spaces here. There is easy parking in the rear of the church. F. L. Enfinger was an early pastor. Church phone is (850) 968-2357. Mark Davis serves in 2006. Most common names are Ard, Bozeman, Baxley, Stabler and Vickery.
Directions: Beginning in Cantonment at US29 and C-184, drive north (right lane) 0.1 miles to Williams Ditch Road and turn right. Drive east or 0.2 miles to the church on the left; cemetery is behind it. GPS = N30o 38.005' W087o 18.968'
