Antioch Church Cemetery

The Antioch Cemetery is located in Nokomis. One acre of land was given by John Blakesley in 1907 to the “United Freewill Church of Christ” and was recorded in 1912. Genealogy information and identification of graves with no marking was given to the transcription group by Mr. and Mrs. James R. “Pete” Lee of Davisville, FL. There are several unmarked graves which have not been identified.

Directions: Beginning in Cantonment at US29 and CR-184, drive North about 9.0 miles to SR-97 (blinking light) in Molino, and turn Left. Drive NW on SR-97 for 20.6 miles to Nokomis Road, and turn left at the BP gas station. Drive West on Nokomis Road to the “T” intersection and turn right on Pineville Road. Drive about 0.5 mile to Jakes Road and you will see Antioch Church on the right. The cemetery is behind the church. Park in the church parking lot. The contact point in 1985 was Donnie Cook, (850) 327-6540.

The Antioch Cemetery was surveyed in 1985 by members of the West Florida Genealogical Society (WFGS). The results of the survey were published by WFGS in November 1986 in Volume One, Cemeteries of Escambia County, FLA Gravestone Registry. Since the publication is no longer in print, the list of gravesites on this page has been transcribed from the publication and contributed to the Escambia County USGenWeb site with permission of the WFGS Board of Directors.

Please send corrections or additions to Evan Strohl, WFGS Chairman, Cemetery Committee, or the Webmaster. All sources will be credited.

ADDENDUM
The Antioch Cemetery is approximately 70' x 100' and relatively well kept. It contains approximately 100 graves, but was not resurveyed at this time. Some of the Seals/Seales buried here reportedly are of Native American heritage. By Evan Strohl, Chairman, WFGS Cemetery Committee, Sep 2006
