WILLIAMS Benjamin N. ( 4 ) b. 1822 d. 1910 Co. A 5th Fla. Cav. CSA (Benjamin N. Williams was born 31 Aug 1822 in Sampson County, NC and died March 1910 in Vernon, FL. He enlisted 1 Nov 1863 at Camp Milton and was discharged for disability 27 Aug 1864 at Camp Jackson. He was 5'11" tall, brown eyes, light skin & hair. He was listed in the census' as a farmer and blacksmitter. I have written for and recieved his request for a pension for the Civil War. He served in Milton's Company, 5th Florida Calvary. According to the pension application Benjamin was discharged because of a broken arm and the loss of his right eye and general disability. In the application Benjamin wrote " I was in the Calvary service and while in such service was thrown from a horse while endevoring to escape from the custody of the enemy. I was at the time acting look out. As a result of the injuryI lost use of left arm which has never been fully restored and also one eye, and that I am past the age of 65 years." This was signed on 3 Nov 1903. Benjamin married Elizabeth Dominey in 1847. They were in Macon County, AL in 1850, Henry County, AL in 1860 Washington County, FL in 1870, Henry County, AL in 1880, and in Washington County in 1900>. Their children were: Henry B. Williams m. Ann Eliza Barksdale, Marsellas P. Williams m. Ida Marshall, Eugenia Williams m. ______ Simmons, Rebecca J. Williams never married, Willis B. Williams never married, Melissa B. Williams m.
