One of the newest Memorial Gardens, Forest Hills is located at 2001 SW Murphy Road in Palm City, across the Okeechobee Waterway from downtown Stuart.
The Gardens are well laid out, spacious, and well maintained. Recently acquired by a national organization, Stewart Enterprises, Inc., New Orleans, LA, the original request for a zoning change, necessary to lay out the Gardens, was initiated as recently as 1973. At the time of this survey, the Gardens contained over 4000 burial sites, including a large columbarium. Separate sections are identified as Veterans, Catholic, and Jewish Gardens, and include individual family mausoleum estates.
The MCGS Cemetery Committee is indebted to the staff for their assistance in providing computerized listings as a basis for the fieldwork done by the MCGS volunteers during 1999, when the survey was originally completed. Due to the extensive work necessary to computerize this important burial site, the viewer should be aware that the listings herein are still being revised.
