Betty, I've searched and searched for you! I found several internet references to Missouri George and Josiah Dunham Boyett which were generated from a page of yours but when I tried to go to the page, I kept getting a message that it wasn't on my server. Help? I'm researching Missouri and her parents, Elizabeth Maloy and Furney/Farney George. I would appreciate any information that you could share on these folks. Elizabeth was the sister of my ggg Grandfather Stephen Edward Maloy of Decatur Co., GA. We're trying to get the family genealogy put together with as much accuracy as possible. Thanks for any assistance you can lend. I will, of  course, be glad to share any info that I may have that you may need, just let me know. Thanks for your help and a BIG THANKS for the Jackson Co. and Liberty Co. FL genweb pages. Keep up the good work! Kathy Wilson, Fayetteville, GA

Thanks for your reply, Betty. My interest in Missouri George is that I am from the Maloy line and Elizabeth George, mother of Missouri, was a Maloy and the sister of my ggg Grandfather, Stephen E. Maloy. Their father was John Wesley Maloy, mother Syvilla Creech. In an effort to compile information on all the known members of this Maloy family, I would appreciate any information on Missouri, her family, day-to-day living, and descendants. Once we compile our Maloy findings, we plan to get them on the internet and to the LDS.

Anything you can help with or direction to published works you can help with would be greatly appreciated. Elizabeth Maloy and Furney/Farnie George, parents of Missouri were married in Decatur Co., GA Nov 30, 1834. Bonds to settle the estate of Furney George were posted Jan 14, 1861 in Decatur Co., GA. Since Elizabeth George is listed in the 1860 Decatur Co., GA census as head of the house, it must be assumed that Furney died in pre 1860.Hope this is enough information to help you. Thanks in advance for all your help in our Maloy project. Kathy Wilson 12408 Riviera Dr., Fayetteville, GA 30215   770-716-0393

Subj:   Sadberry
Date: 98-02-25
From: [email protected] (Dan R. Sadberry)
I'm trying to find cemetery info on some of my Sadberry's. The cemeteries census for the county was done in 1962, and the books are supposedly in the local library. I don't know if the State Archives will have them, but if they do, I'm looking for data on the following individuals:

Stockley L. Sadberry, Jr. died in 1869, lived in Quincy or Greensboro
Seaborn M. Sadberry died before 1880 (?) same locale as above
Stockley Sadberry b. abt 1851 don't know when he died, son of Seaborn M.
Seaborn M. Sadberry, Jr. b. abt 1870, don't know when he died, son of Seaborn M.
Seaborn M. Sadberry (Sr.) had three wives, any info on them.

I believe that they all were in the Quincy area, and I don't know which cemetery. If you run into any other Sadberry's while looking, I'd appreciate the info. Thank you,  Dan in Oklahoma

Subj: FLORIDA BIRTH RECORDS

Good News!
According to the "Vital News" issued by the Florida Department of Health, December 1997 the following revision was made:

"Since the revision of Chapter 382, Florida Statutes, issuance of birth
certificates has been expanded. If the person listed on a certificate is
over 100 years old, a certified copy may be issued to anyone completing an application and paying the required fee. Also, if the registrant listed on the birth certificate is deceased and a certified copy is requested by the registrant's spouse, child, grandchild, sibling or the legal representative of any of these, it may be issued as long as the applicant can provide a certified copy of the registrant's death certificate.

If you have any questions about the revision of Chapter 382, please contact your quality assurance field representative."

THIS IS A GOOD STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. This happened last July, and it is quite obvious that most of us were totally unaware of it. How come we are so concerned about this issue and yet no one has a clue as to what is taking place in Tallahassee. We need a watchdog!!! Anyone willing to help Florida genealogists and historians?

From: [email protected] (Paula Johnson)
I have only found one of my ancestors listed in anything. That is Stewart Barrentine. He is listed in the WPA Veterans Graves listing in Jackson Co. but I can't find anything else on him or his family. His wife was Amy Jarmon (Jarman), they had a son John Wesley Barrentine that I can't find. Then I can't find any of my family from Jackson Co. with the Surnames HINSON, MATHEWS, HERRING, HAM, RALEY, OR REGISTER? I have found plenty of the names but none match the information I have. Thank you so much! Paula Johnson

Subj: LINDSEY AND GRANTHAM - RIDLEY
Date: 98-02-28
From: [email protected] (iris)
I am researching both my Grantham and Lindsey lineages. My GGrandfather, JAMES WILLIAM GRANTHAM married MARTHA RIDLEY in Jackson County in 1874. I believe his father was BENJAMIN GRANTHAM, I have no idea who he married or where.

My grandfather, COY SHEPHERD LINDSEY married SUSIE IRIS GRANTHAM in Jackson County in 1918. Grandaddy's father was JOHN LINDSEY (according to the 1900 Calhoun County census), and his wife's name was EMMELINE SHIREY (?I believe). That is as far as I can go now. If anyone out there has any information I would appreciate anything. I'll share, too. Thanks,  Iris Lindsey Medwedeff

From: [email protected]
I am simply curious as my ancestor from Alabama (William Houston Taylor JONES) had a child whose first name is Lawless. Maybe he knew your guys and decided to use the name. I have never heard that for a given name ever before.

Another coincidence is William's mother's name was Cintha. Any clues on your end or is it a fluke?
(No fluke here this my direct lines and my problem line.  William Taylor m Cynthia Lawless 1850's Barbour Co AL ....and .....Mary R Jones m Seth Brigham 1840's Randolph Co GA....BJS)

Subj: LOGAN
Date: 98-02-24
From: [email protected] (Peggy Logan)
I am researching our LOGAN family and believe they were in Jackson County; not sure how early but a WILLIAM H. LOGAN was on the 1860 census and married there in 1862 to ABBIE BULLOCK. I believe this man may have been the brother to my husband's great grandfather, DAWSON LOGAN, b. 1820 GA. Our B also lived in Decatur Co., GA. Dawson was there in 1860 and his wife and family were in Miller Co., GA in 1870. WILLIAM H. LOGAN served in the Civil War and is buried in the LOGAN CEMETERY. Does anyone know anything about the LOGAN family who lived there in 1860 and forward? We would be so grateful for any information and would be please to share our family information with anyone interested. Thank you! Peggy J. Logan (Mrs. Harry Christopher Logan)

My name is Gail Smith. I live in Petoskey, Michigan, but I grew up in Lubbock, Texas. My mother's maden name was Knowles. Her Grandmothers' name was Mary Elizabeth Ariabella COX. I am new at Geneology, however, my mother has been interested all her life. She has asked me to find her Cox connection to the Civil War. We have Company Muster-in-Roll records for several of our Knowles ansisters, however nothing on the Cox side. The name of Mary Elizabeth's father was Samson Cox. Do you have anything on him, and is Dale A. Cox, who wrote "The Battle of Marianna" decended from Samson Cox? I would appreciate anything you could send me.

Subj: Jackson County and State Line

From: [email protected]
I have been told that the Alabama-Florida state line has been moved once or twice. Can anyone verify this and when was it moved? This is very interesting as I am now finding ancestors who lived in Alabama in early 1800's and then later appeared just across line in Jackson County.  (OK folks, we have all been wondering and guessing about this,  If I get a lot of response to this I will create a special web page for you e-mails. Send in those nice long letters and thoughts about this.  BJS )

Subj: COKER AND KING
Date: 98-02-11
From: [email protected] (Randall L. Hughes)
My great grandfather was James Coker who married Mariata King in Jackson County in March 1885. He was also in Jackson County at the time of the 1885 census with Mariata and a daughter (my grandmother in his house hold). Does any one have any information on this James King or his parents?

There is a James P King who first appears in the 1850 Jackson County census with a wife named Fatima and a son named William. The same family appears in the 1860 census. (He appears to have been running a rooming house. In both censuses several adult males are listed as residents of his household.) James P appears as the only member of his house hold in the 1870 census and married in 1871. He married again in 1881. Does anyone know if he is related to the James King mentioned in the first paragraph? What happened to his first wife, Fatima and his son William? Thanks, RANDY HUGHES
