William Franklin Davis son of Ratliff Ferdinand Davis and Louella Bruner. Born in Texas September 1876-died July 17, 1947 in Panama City, Florida.
Buried in Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery. Married to Lucinda Cordelia Howell January 11, 1903 Holmes county, Florida. Father of seven children.
Lucinda Cordelia Howell daughter of William Hezikiah Howell and Sara Emma Narcissus Jones. Born in Henry county Alabama June 15,1884-died March 27,1934. Buried in Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery.Married to William Franklin Davis January 11, 1903 Holmes county, Florida.Mother of seven children.
Anna Lara Davis daughter of William Franklin Davis and Lucinda Cordelia Howell. Born in Florida (?) -died September 18, 1937.Buried in Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery. Married to William Railey. Mother of one child. Anna Lara died giving birth to her one child,who also died. Her headstone reads Anna Lara & infant.
The headstone on R.F. Davis is incorrect. The date of his death is 1933 not 1936. He is the son of Henry and Mary Davis. I have not discovered her maiden name. William Franklin Davis is the son of Ratliff Ferdinand Davis and Louella Bruner. Delia Howell is the wife of W.F. Davis and the daughter of William Hezikiah Howell and Sara Emma Jones. R.F's wife is not buried in Poplar Springs,could she be buried in one of the Bruner Cemeterys?

Betty, Has Keith Williamson told you that we think that Isaac Toole Sr.
never existed and that the DAR has information that is not correct on the
Tooles? Also someone was asking for info on the murder of James Aldolphus
Toole and I don't remember who asked for this information. It was
a Toole Researcher and it is quite detailed in a book on Washington
Co. My mother remembers this tragedy occured in 1950. Ambus Peele
literally got away with murder because the woman involved would not testify
in court against Mr. Peele. Miss Taylor was dating both men.
James had his throat slashed by Ambus and Taylor was an accomplice.
She went to jail and Ambus was not detained. This event occured in the town
of Chipley, Fl. If you come across the person looking for this please pass
it along to them as more people become aware that you are related to the

I know it has been some time since we talked. I took a short break from the genealogy and have now started back. I have some new information regarding the Toole line. It has been postulated by some that the father of Isaac Toole of Barnwell County (who married Keziah) was the son of another Isaac Toole who imigrated from Ireland. I am in possession of the Will and Estate papers of Edward Tool who lived in Bertie County, N.C. These papers indicate that Edward Tool was the father of both Isaac and David Tool who are listed in the 1790 Barnwell census.
Edward Toole died in 1773. In his will he named wife Mary, sons Geraldus, Jonathan, and David. The estate papers name all of the above plus Isaac and a Joseph Turner (he supposedly collected a share for his wife a daugher of Edward). I also have estate papers showing where David returned from Ga to NC to sell his share of the estate.
There was also a Laurence Toole who married Sabra Irwin. They had a son Henry Irwin Toole. The name Henry Irwin was handed down through the subsequent generations. Laurence also had a son named Geraldus. I THINK that Laurence and Edward were brothers, but as of yet have no documentation to that effect.

The commercial growth and development of Graceville, Florida, received a
powerful impetus when Richard F. Davis, Jr., established himself in
the mercantile business in this city about ten years ago, founding an
establishment which has grown by leaps and bounds, and in the course of
years has become one of the important business institutions in this part
of the state. Born in Dale County, Alabama, January 7, 1870, Richard F.
Davis, Jr., is a son of Richard F. And Mary (Waters)
Davis, both natives of Georgia. The father successfully followed agricultural
pursuits
during all his life and passed away, at a comparatively early age, in July,
1869, while the mother is still living in Graceville. To this union were
born four children: James, who died in infancy; Reuben T., who makes his
home in Louisiana; Lela, the wife of J. H. Bullard, of
Graceville, Florida; and Richard F., Jr. After the death of her first husband
Mrs. Davis married J. B. Martin, of Graceville, and by him
had six children, namely: Solon, who passed away in active service in the
Philippine Islands; Emma, the wife of W. C. Slade, of Graceville;
Della and Early, both deceased; and James and Otto of Graceville.
His father having died before his birth, Richard F. Davis, Jr., enjoyed
but few advantages of education and at the early age of twelve years began
to farm. Time enabled him to rent some land which he cultivated with such
success that he was able in 190 to buy one hundred and forty-five acres located
in Alabama. After following agricultural pursuits for three years he sold
his holdings and removed to Graceville, entering commercial circles here
and building a store, in which he established a general merchandise business.
He also carried hardware and furniture and in this store can be found all
such goods as are demanded by the local trade, reasonably priced and of first
class quality. A man of progressive tendencies, energetic and industrious,
he has built up a mercantile establishment which is a credit to the town,
and while he is deriving substantial returns from his enterprise he has largely
contributed to the growth and development of this section by his activities.
Mr. Davis was united in marriage to Miss Mary Floyd and they
have become the parents of ten children: a son who died in infancy; E.
Connor, who assists is father in the store; Pearl, attending college
at
Gainesville, Georgia; Fannie Lee and Mary V., both at home; Howard, also
at home; two sons who died in infancy; Jessie Belle, also deceased; and Blanche,
at home.
A business man of the modern type, Mr. Davis is shrewd, able, progressive
and straightforward, careful of his own interests, considerate of those of
others, and influenced at all times by the thought of the broad effect which
his work has upon the growth of his community. This public spirit finds
expression in the interest which he takes in all matters promoted to benefit
the community, and he has actively participated in the city government as
a member of the city council, wisely exercising his efforts in fathering
such measures as would do the most good to the city. His religion is that
of the Baptist church and fraternally is affiliated with the Knights of Pythias.
It is evident from his life's record that success is but ambition's answer
and
that a fixed and unalterable purpose pursued under all circumstances is the
best motive power can have.

years ago and was rebuilted across the road. The cemetery land 1/4 acre was
donated by my g-grandmother Mary Magdalene McCullough. She and two
