COMMENTS: Quincy's oldest pioneer families are buried here. Hazekiah Wilder - First settler in Quincy. Ann Wilder, his wife, was the oldest inhabitant of Quincy when she died. Archibald Sumpter, one of the early settlers, was an Indian Trader and opened an Indian Trading Post

DIRECTIONS: From the Quincy courthouse go east on Hwy 90 for about 2 1/2 blocks to North Love street. Turn left on North Love street and go one block to East Washington St. and turn right and go to the cemetery.

In this cemetery there is a big section with an old wrought iron fence around
it. In the northeast corner the fence is about 12 inches into the trunk of
a tree. In this section is where the confederate soldiers are supposed to be
buried. There are three old marble headstone this this area.

This headstone is on the ground broken into two pieces. Just inside the fence
on the east side.

Sacred to the memory of
Jesse Miller BOND
14 May 1850
20 Jun 1850
A bud not yet a flower
Born in its sweetness
From the parent's pray
The death winds swept
her to her soft response,
as frost, in spring time,
blight the early rose.

These graves are between the first drive as you approach the cemetery on
E. Washington St. and to the west fence.

Here lies beneath the silent tomb,
one gone to his eternal home. His
friends they mourn when they passed
round the silent tomb, and burying

yet hope to meet in heaven again.

Henry DEARBORN

Early in life he was down, to lie and
moulder in the ground, his sickness
long and painful too. But see how soon
he's carried through. Then may we all
from this prepare to meet our Saviour
