Providence Baptist Church started out about 1869 as Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Only a short distance from Carpenter Cemetery.

Where the church is today is on land that was given by my ancestors - Henry Carpenter and his sister, Ann Carpenter - many of my ancestors were members of this church. There was a pond about one-quarter mile behind the church where people were baptized.
