37.  General Land Office - Automated Records - Florida, includes purchases of land by individuals from US Gov't during the 1800s. This is a CD from Bureau of Land Management. Also a CD on Alabama records. These are $15 each and contain a world of info as well as how the first state line was established and where it was. It includes everyone buried from mid-1800's up through October 1999 in the Concord, Vickers, Barber, Touchstone, Finklea, Hand, and Scott cemeteries in the Concord and Scotland communities of Gadsden County. There is an index in the back for the Concord, Vickers, and Barber cemeteries since they are so large. The other cemeteries are small family cemeteries with only two or three people in each. The genealogical information includes relationships of people buried beside each other and to other family members in the same cemetery and in the other Concord cemeteries. Place of birth and death, date of marriage, number of children, names of children, military service, name on tombstone and complete name as given in family Bible or census records are given where known. Some deeds, wills, and family letters are transcribed, and history of the Concord and Vickers cemeteries is provided. Family names well represented include Vickers, Walsh, Bell, Barber, Gray, Laing, Perkins, Stephens, Strickland, Johnson, and Poppell.

49. Cox's "An Accurate History of Jackson County, Florida"
A new history of Jackson County is in the works! Historian and writer Dale Cox, author of "The West Florida War - A New Look at Asboth's 1864 Raid on Marianna," is nearing completion of a new book that will trace the county's history from prehistoric times through World War II.

Cox's "An Accurate History of Jackson County, Florida" includes extensive research on some little-known episodes of local history, including the county's three forgotten Spanish missions, Creek and Seminole War activity, the Battle of Marianna and the famous Ghost of Bellamy Bridge. (He also has two other works in progress: A History of the Creek and Seminole Wars of 1813-1818 and A New Look at DeSoto's Route Through Florida, Alabama and Georgia.) The book is expected to be available in November of this year.

Several parents have given these CD's to their children away at college, so they could show their new friends and classmates where they came from.

The Holmes County Historical Society has printed a small number of books, entitled Holmes County Cemetery Census; originally researched and printed for the local libraries by Lon L. Everett; as a fund raising project. The books are for Sale - $35 each. The Cemetery Census was originally taken 1990-1993, has been redone and indexed by surnames in alphabetical order, with a code to determine who is buried at which cemetery.
