BROWNING ROSIER - Ruby Browning ROSIER, 83, of Raiford died July 1, 1993,
in North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainsville after a sudden illness.
Mrs. ROSIER was born in Bradford County and lived most of her life in Raiford.
She was the widow of the late Theodore ROSIER, a homemaker and a member of
First Baptist Church of Raiford. Survivors include daughters, Wanda SAPP
of Lawtey, Tessie CASON and Maggie MOORE both of Raiford and Martha ADDISON
of Gainsville; brother, David BROWNING of Starke, sister Beulah NORMAN of
Lawtey; ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were
held July 4, 1993, in First Baptist Church of Raiford. Burial followed in
Sapp Cemetery in Raiford under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Lake
Butler. |

Born in Starke on April 3,1896,she lived her early years in Bradford County,she came to Haines City from Winter Garden 20 years ago. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She is survied by many grandchildren,great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. |
| BRADFORD COU7NTY TELEGRAPH - 15 APRIL 1949 - Mrs. Fannie M. GREEN, 78, widow of the late Archibald H. GREEN, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. WIMBERLY in Starke Monday morning after a lengthy illness. She was born in Raiford, Nov. 25, 1981, the daughter of the late James H. and Nancy TISON RITCH, and was a lifelong resident of Bradford County. She was an active member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. GREEN is survived by two daughters, Mrs. WIMBERLY, and Mrs. A. F. SAULS of Starke, and four sons, Lloyd J., Nelson T., Lorenzo J. and Adam T., all of Starke; five sisters, Mrs. L. L. CONNER and Mrs. Drew REDDISH, both of Starke, Mrs. J. S. FREDERICKS of Miami, and Mrs. R. L. LOCKHART and Mrs. Dennis LENNON, both ofDeland; two half sisters, Mrs. Lloyd MOORE, Raiford, and Mrs. Magdeline ESPY, Jacksonville; her step mother, Mrs. Amy RITCH, Raiford, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Starke Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. J. R. HILL, pastor and Rev. W. J. CHURCHWELL of Jacksonnville officiating. Interment was in Sapp Cemetery near Raiford under the direction of DeWitt C. Jones. Active pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Edwin, Inman, Robert, Herbert, Jimmie and Harry GREEN. |
| BRADFORD COUNTY TELEGRAPH - 1945 Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Bell STARLING, 70, who died Monday in a Jacksonville Hospital, were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lawtey Baptist Church, with Rev. G. V. LEE officiating. Pallbearers were J. W. EUNICE, Earl EDWARDS, L. H. HILL, T. T. BLACKBURN, J. S. SHUFORD, and Robert BLANCHARD. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery near Lawtey under the direction of Key-McCabe Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Mrs. STARLING was a lifelong resident of Bradford County, and was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, H. D. BENNETT of Lawtey, J. E. BENNETT of Jacksonville, and C. B. BENNETT of Miami; two sisters, Mrs. Lois MILLER, and Mrs. Laura PICKETT of Jacksonville; and three brothers, I. T. GEORGE of Miami, R. D. GEORGE and M. M. GEORGE, both of Jacksonville. |

LAWTEY MRS. VINEY LEE Mrs. Viney LEE, 86, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David GUNTER near Starke, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, after an illness of several months which had confined her to her bed. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, Jan. 11 at 10:00 o'clock, at Long Branch cemetery, near Maxville, with Rev. E. C. NEWTON in charge. Those surviving the deceased are three daughters and two sons, namely, Mrs. Esther GRIFFIS, Miss Martha WILKINSON and Mrs. David GUNTER of Starke, and John WILKINSON and Elisha WILKINSON of Lawtey. Several grandchildren also survive. CARD OF THANKS We, the sons and daughters of Mrs. Viney LEE wish to express our thanks and appreciation to Rev. NEWTON, Mrs. J. T. QUIGLEY, L. GREEN and others who were so kind to us during the long illness and death of our loved one. The flowers were very much appreciated. |
| BRADFORD COUNTY TELEGRAPH - 16 JUNE 1922 - LAWTEY The death of Mrs. Sallie GRIFFIS widow of the late Sambo GRIFFIS, occurred at the latters home Saturday, three miles west of Lawtey. She was 72 years of age and has lived in this community nearly all of her life. She leaves many relatives and friends to mourn her death. The funeral was held at the home Sunday and the body interred in Evergreen Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. I. M. BELT pastor of the Methodist church. |

BEACH Yulee GRIFFIS, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. GRIFFIS of Rosedale,
near Lawtey, passed away Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock August 12th, at the
home of his parents and was laid to rest beside his grandmother, Mrs. Laura
GRIFFIS, in the Evergreen Cemetery, Saturday at 10 o'clock. He was 21 years
of age, although he was an invalid all his life. He could never walk or talk,
but was blest to hear and see. He bore his suffering well without a tear
or murmur until a short while ago his health began to fail and he grew weaker
until the end at last came. Everthing that loving hands could do was done
to relieve the sufferer, but God saw fit to call him. We know he will be
missed, but God loved him too and took him away to better land, and resting
place. He leaves to mourn his departure a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
R. C. GRIFFIS, one brother, Roy GRIFFIS, four sisters, Mrs. L. J. NORMAN,
Mrs. M. L. THOMPSON, Misses Lucille and Bertice GRIFFIS. Funeral services
were conducted at the home by Rev. Jim STRICKLAND of Clay Hill. Our hearts have been made sad, Our home lonely without this precious one; But we realize God's will must be done, And feel thou hast made him glad. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, J. B. ROSIER, three sons, Henry TISON, Elisha ROSIER, James ROSIER, three duaghters, Mrs. Lulu GRIFFIS, Mrs. Jean GASKINS, Mrs. Laura CHESSER. The body was laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Their friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones. |

the death of Mrs. Lois SHEFFIELD (?SHERFIELD) was received here. Mrs. SHERFIELD
will be remembered here as Miss Lois ROSIER of Evergreen. Mrs. SHERFIELD
was born and reared here and spent her entire life here until six years ago
when she married to the late L. SHERFIELD of Monticello where she died Sunday
night, November 12, about 10:00 o"clock. The body was brought here by relatives
and friends and buried in the family plot at Pine Grove Tuesday. The deceased

Both had cerebro spinal meningitis and died within a few days of each other. His death occurring Tuesday and her's Friday. They buried his body at Dupont where they have been living for some years and her brother, H. MOSLEY and I. V. MOSLEY, brought her body here Saturday night and she was buried at Long Branch Sunday, Rev. J. L. STRICKLAND conducting the services. |

1899 A SAD ACCIDENT Mrs. Wm. TYSON Is Seriously Injured By A Runaway Horse Mrs. Wm. TYSON proprietress of the Starke House of this palce happened to a very serious accident Tuesday. Mrs. TYSON had driven out to her place west of this city and as she was preparing to start home she raised an umbrella which frightened the horse. The animal soon became unmanageable and ran through the woods at a rapid rate. Mrs. TYSON was thrown from the buggy receiving injuries that may prove fatal. She was brought to this city at once and Dr. STEWART was called. The doctor did everything possible to releive her sufferings but it is feared that she will not recover. 28 SEPTEMBER 1899 Mrs. TETSTONE of Lawtey is at the bedside of her sister Mrs. Wm. TYSON who was seriously injured by being thrown from a buggy Tuesday morning. SEMI-WEEKLY ADVOCATE - STARKE, FLORIDA - 5 OCTOBER 1899 DEATH OF MRS. EMILY TYSON We regret to chronicle the death of Mrs. Emily TYSON wife of Mr. William TYSON of the Starke House. Since the accident of her being violently thrown from the buggy when her horse ran away Tuesday morning September 26, Mrs. TYSON suffered greatly. Everything was done both by her physician and her many friends to allay the pain but the injuries were so deep and severe that death ended her sufferings Monday night at 9 o'clock. She was buried Wednesday at 11 o'clock in the Crosby lake cemetery. The funeral services were conducted at the Starke House Wednesday morning by her pastor Rev. W. H. STEINMEYER of the Methodist Church of which she was a member. The funeral was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. Mrs. TYSON will be greatly missed as she was very popular and had a host of friends both in Starke and the surrounding county. She was a good woman, had a warm heart and a kind word for everyone. The Advocate extends heart felt sympathy to the bereaved husband and family. | Leon Conner Leon Conner, 85, father of Florida Agriculture Commissioner Doyle Conner, died Saturday, June 1, 1985 following a lengthy illness. The elder Conner, a native and lifelong resident of Starke was a retired building inspector at the University of Florida. Survivors include: his wife, Fronie Crews Conner of Starke, a daughter, June Peterson of Lake City; two sons, Doyle of Tallahassee and Glenn of Orlando; a step-son William Spencer Crews of Jacksonville; three brothers, Raleigh, Marcus and Loren, all of Starke; four sisters, Roberta Sapp, Edith Hutchinson, Ida Mae Shaw and Elna Schaffer, all of Starke; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. CONNER, Leon--Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 1985 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pine Level Baptist Church withthe Rev. Roman Alvarez and the Rev. L.E. Peterson officiating. | From the Bradford County Telegraph; May 11, 2000 Virginia Althouse INTERLACHEN - Virginia Peace Mackey Althouse, 94, of Interlachen died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at Windsor Manor in Starke following an extended illness. Born in White Springs, Mrs. Althouse lived in Jacksonville, New York City and Coral Gables before moving to Keystone Heights in 1982 and to Interlachen in 1997. She was a member of Coral Gables Music Club and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs of which she was state flag custodian, National League of American Pen Women, Keystone Heights Woman's Club, Keystone Golf and Country Club and Community Church of Keystone Heights. Mrs. Althouse is survived by: a nephew Raymond Eugene LeaMond and several first cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Althouse and a sister Betty Peace LeaMond. Memorial services for Mrs. Althouse were held on May 7, 2000 in DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with the Rev. Buddy C. Fredlin officiating. Born in Connellsville, Pa., Mrs. Geary moved to Melrose from Connellsville in 1977. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Connellsville and was a retired glass factory worker. Mrs. Geary is survived by: two sons, Fred E. Feagin of Albuquerque, N.M. and Richard L. Feagin of Lake Geneva; three sisters, Louise Holland of Baltimore, Md., Mildred Eicher and Thelma Gallentine, both of Connellsville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy L. Geary in July, 1998. Funeral services for Mrs. Geary were May 10, 2000 in Connellsville with interment in Green Ridge Cemetery. She was a member of Community Church in Keystone Heights and was a retired bookkeeper for a laundry and dry cleaning business. She was a former member of Melrose Woman's Club. Mrs. Grolick is survived by: a sister Mae Kidd of Jacksonville; a niece Shirley Thompson; two nephews, Omer and Charles Winn. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Grolick in 1975. Funeral services for Mrs. Grolick will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2000 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with the Rev. Buddy Friedlin conducting the services. Interment will be at a later date. John Hileman Jr. MELROSE - John P. Hileman Jr., 84, of Melrose died Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Windsor Manor in Starke following a brief illness. Born in Lexington, Va., Mr.. Hileman moved to Melrose in 1977 from Jacksonville. He was a retired military aircraft mechanic and estimator and member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Melrose. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1934 through 1954 and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He retired as a service manager for Key Buick in Jacksonville. Mr. Hileman is survived by: his wife Artice Evelyn Hileman of Melrose; two sons, Harry L. Hileman of Melrose and John P. Hileman III from Gainesville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hileman were May 6, 2000 in Faith Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Melana Scruggs conducting the services. Wayne Hutchins STARKE - Wayne Preston Hutchins, 49, of Starke died Monday, May 8, 2000 in Starke as a result of a traffic accident. Born in Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Hutchins lived in Miami before moving to Starke 25 years ago. He was a self-employed electrician and had been employed at Camp Blanding for 14 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hutchins is survived by: Nina Hutchins of Starke; a daughter Tancie Mae Mize of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son Tony Anthony Hutchins of Keystone Heights; two sisters, Patricia English of Citra and Helen Willingham of Cooper City and two grandchildren. Graveside services for Mr. Hutchins will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2000 at Santa Fe Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Griffis officiating. Born in Orange Park, Mr. Fortune lived most of his life in Orlando and Palatka. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Fortune is survived by: five daughters, Linda Thomas, Venna Fortune and Kendria Fortune, all of Red Bay, Ashley Fortune and Angel Fortune, both of Wachulla; five brothers, Travis Griffis of Lake City, Don Fortune of Lake Butler, Robert Fortune and Michael Fortune, both of Palatka, and Aaron Tray Carroll of Orlando; two sisters, Cindy Bishop and Cheryl Carroll, both of Palatka, and two grandchildren. Linda Griffis RAIFORD - Linda Hart Griffis, 61, of Raiford died Saturday, May 6, 2000 at St. Vincent's Medical Center following an apparent heart attack. Born in Newark, Ohio, Mrs. Griffis lived in Macclenny before moving to Raiford in 1959. She was a member of the Union County Historical Society and retired as an administrative assistant for the Department of Corrections. She also was a reporter for the Union County Times and Bradford County Telegraph. Mrs. Griffis is survived by: a daughter Kimberly Ellen Griffis Wilson of Brazil, Ind.; two sons, Ronnie K. (Kelly) Griffis of St. Petersburg and Kevin A. Griffis of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother Glenn A. Hart of Glen St. Mary; two sisters, Janice Torbert of St. Augustine and Nancy Crews of Glen St. Mary; three grandchildren, James Kyle Griffis, Jared A. Griffis and Erin K. Griffis. Mrs. Pelt is survived by: two sons, Jimmy Frohock and Wallace Frohock, both of Tallahassee; two daughters, Gay Vause of Crawfordville and Dena Hobbs of Starke; a brother Morris Lawhon of Crawfordville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Pelt were held May 9, 2000 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville with burial following in Arran Cemetery. Bettie Sprow KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Bettie Y. Sprow, 77, of Keystone Heights died Thursday, May 4, 2000 at her residence. Born in Fremont, Ohio, Mrs. Sprow moved to Keystone Heights in 1951 from Oxnard, Calif. She was a retired postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, working in Keystone Heights from 1961-82. She was a member of Keystone Heights Community Church. Mrs. Sprow is survived by: a grandson Adam Graetz of Largo and a nephew Thomas W. Osborn of Melrose. She was preceded in death by her husband Harland Sprow in 1983. Graveside services for Mrs. Sprow were May 8, 2000 at Eliam Cemetery in Melrose with the Rev. Rob Morford conducting the services. Taylor, 82, of Lake Butler died Friday, May 5, 2000 at BrookeWood Nursing Center in Starke following an extended illness. Born in Ocala, Mrs. Taylor lived most of her life in Jacksonville before moving to Lake Butler in 1991. She was a salesperson with the Woolworth Department Store for 25 years. Mrs. Taylor is survived by: a son Billy Mathis of Lake City and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George L. Taylor. Graveside services for Mrs. Taylor were May 8, 2000 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lake Butler with the Rev. Roger Worton officiating. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler was in charge of arrangements. Billie Watson LAWTEY - Billie Lillie Watson, 78, of Lawtey died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. Born in Alma, Ga., Mrs. Watson lived in Macclenny before moving to Lawtey in 1975. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Watson is survived by: a son Charlie Watson of Gainesville; a brother Dell Gilliard of Apopka and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles T. Watson Sr. Graveside services for Mrs. Watson were May 5, 2000 at Lawtey Cemetery with Brother Donald Wilkinson officiating. Archie Tanner Funeral Home of Starke was in charge of arrangements. Arthur Williams KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Arthur W. Williams, 81, of Keystone Heights died Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Windsor Manor following an extended illness. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Mr. Williams moved to Keystone Heights in 1973 from Allentown, Pa. He was of the Protestant faith and was a retired bus maintenance department employee for Clay County schools. Mr. Williams is survived by: a step-daughter Aileen Johnson of Lynn Haven; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel M. Williams. Memorial services for Mr. Williams will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2000 at Keystone Heights Cemetery with the Rev. Carolyn Schoele conducting the services. | Death of Mrs.J. Harrell It was quite a shock to this town and community when it was learned that Mrs. J.Harrell, widow of the late Joe Harrell, had died almost suddenly of acute indigestion. Mrs.Harrell had been in apparently as good health as could be expected at her age. She was 80 years and two months old. She made her home with her youngest son, Mr. Wade Harrell, up to the time of her death. Mrs. Harrell ate a hearty supper and was up a little late with the family, as they had company, talked and upon retiring seemed to be perfectly well and alright. About 1 o'clock Saturday morning she awakened the family and they saw she was seriously ill and summoned Dr. Carefoot, of Wrothington, but she was already dead when he arrived. She is survived by eight children as follows; Mr. John Harrell of Raiford; Mr. Lee Harrell of Jacksonville; Will Harrell of Brooker; Wade Harrell of Brooker, Joe Harrell of LaCrosse; Mrs. Ida Weeks of Santa Fe; Mrs. Ann Brooker of LaCrosse; Mrs Virginia Crews of Brooker. Mrs. Harrell was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. The family has a host of friends who sympsthizy with them in their berevaement The interment took place in the New Hope Cemetery last Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Dukes officiating, with a large crowd had gathered to pay their respects. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. |
| Bradford County Telegraph Friday, June 22, 1951 Walton C. Clemons, 68, a native of Brooker died in a Palatka hospitall on Thursday, June 14 following a short illness. He was born at Brooker on October 27, 1883, the son of the late Lewis and Nancy Croft Clemons. He had farmed in the Heilbronn Springs section near Starke for many years and was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Roy, R.L., and W.C. (Jimmie) Clemons, all of Starke; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Conner, Starke, Mrs. Rose DeLoach, Miami, Mrs. Retha Morgan, Ruskin, and Mrs. Melba Hatton, Sneads; and one sister, Mrs. Mandy Forsythe, Lake Butler. Funeral Services were held in New Hope Baptist Church near LaCrosse Sunday afternoon at 3 O'clock with Rev. Moody officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the church cemetary under the direction of DeWitt C. Jones. |

1 News was recieved in Starke, Thursday of the death of W.R. Conner a well known citizen living near Raiford. Mr. Conner had been ill about four weeks with stomach trouble. He died ar 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was fifty-eight year of age and had lived here in Bradford county for sixteen years, having moved here in 1889 from Baker County. He is survived by his wife and twelve children. Mr. Conner was a moral, upright man and good citizen. His death is deeply regretted by a large circle of friends. The remains will be laid to rest at Emannuel Church Cemetary (now Conner Cemetary) this (Friday) morning. |
| Bradford County Telegraph Friday, July 15, 1921 Mrs. J.C. Crews, wife of J.C. Crews of this place, departed this life Friday morning, July 8th, at 9 o'clock. Mrs Crews had been in bad health for some time and all was done for her that loving hands and medical aid could do. Mrs. Crews, before her marriage was Miss Virginia Harrell and was married to Mr. Crews Aug. 1, 1878, and to this union were born five children, of whom four survive her. Mrs. Crews was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and during her life time, tried to live a noble and christian life. She was laid to rest Saturday morning at New Hope Cemetery, Revs. C. Moody and Robt. Dukes, conducting the funeral services. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, J.C. Crews and four children, vis: Messrs. C.J. and Wallace Crews, Mesdames E.M. Hazen and G.G. Colson. The floral offerings were beautiful. The entire family have the sympathy of our people. PINEHILL The death angel visited the home of James Crews Friday morning and took away the beloved wife. She was laid to rest in New Hope Cemetery on Saturday morning. |
| Bradford County Telegraph Aug. 3, 1928 Mr. James Crews, a prominent citizen of Bradford County, died July 27th, at the home of his son, Wallie Crews, after an illness of several days, caused from a fall from which he never recovered. Mr. Crews was 72 years of age was born in Pierce County, Ga. He came to Florida when a young man and settled in this community where he lived the remainder of his life. He was married to Miss Virginia Harrell who died seven years ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.M. Moody of LaCrosse. and interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. He is survived by four children, Mrs. G.B. Colson, Mrs. E.M. Hazen, Wallie and J.C. Crews all of Brooker: Five brothers and four sisters, all of Georgia, and 14 grandchildren. |
| BRADFORD COUNTY TELEGRAPH - 21 JUNE 1935 DIES OF INJURIES Little Lester HALL, Jr. of Citra, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester A. HALL died at the Monroe Memorial Hospital in Ocala Wednesday of last week. Death resulted from injuries received when the little fellow fell out of a door and ruptured a blood vessel. The mother of the child will be remembered here as Miss Maurice MORGAN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leaton U. MORGAN. |

BRADFORD COUNTY TELEGRAPH - 21 JUNE 1935 - HIGHLAND HENRY B. HUDSON Friends of Henry B. HUDSON will regret to learn of his death which occurred Saturday night, June 15, in a Jacksonville hospital, where he had been a patient for six weeks. Mr. HUDSON is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Percival SAYWARD of Boston, Mass., two sons, William HUDSON of Moultrie, Ga., and Clarence HUDSON of Jacksonville, and six grandchildren. The body was brought to Long Branch Cemetery where friends and relatives gathered to pay tribute to the passing of a loved one. Services were held at the Church at Long Branch by Rev. James L. STRICKLAND Sunday afternoon at three-thirty o'clock. Interment was in the family lot. |

PRIEST Passed Away at Starke Sunday Following Short Illness Green Cove Springs, Dec. 7. - Friends in Clay County and other sections of northern Florida were shocked to learn of the death of Mr. H. C. PRIEST, which occurred in Starke Sunday. Mr. PRIEST made his home in Green Cove Springs, and went to Starke about three weeks ago when he was taken sick. At first his condition was not considered to be serious, but he steadily grew worse until the end came. "Pat" PRIEST, as he was familiarly called, was born at Belmore, in this county, thirty-four years ago, the son of Mr. H. C. and Mrs. Idela PRIEST, and he spent his entire life in this community, with the exception of short sojourns in the adjoining county of Bradford, where his wife's people lived. About twelve years ago he married Miss Myrtle GRIFFIS, of Starke, and to this union three children were born, Ruth, Ella and Juanita, all of whom are living. Mr. PRIEST is also survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Idela PRIEST of Hampton; one brother, Mr. Emory V. PRIEST, assessor of taxes of Clay County and one sister, Mrs. Jessie WILSON, of Lake Worth. Mr. PRIEST was a universal favorite. He was of a cheerful disposition, generous in his estimate of men, loyal to his friends, an indulgent father and a loving husband. His will be a hard place in the affairs of life to fill. For a number of years Mr. PRIEST had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church. Internment was in the Prevatt cemetery, near Starke and funeral services were conducted by Rev. TAYLOR of Hampton, a long time friend of the deceased. The pall bearers were Messrs. J. P. HALL, A. J. MOODY, R. D. FISHER, Gene GRIFFIS, Calvin Glisson, and J. T. HOUSER. |
