I am looking for the family and ancestors of John E. HICKS. b. KY 1825. and his wife Mary J. b. 1834 in GA. Lived in Alachua Co. Could possibly be connected with railroad. Children: Parthenia D., Marlys(sp?) and possibly John. Information from the 1870 census.

Am looking for the maiden name of Saleta/Celete/Serliter HODGES, wife of Rev. Alexander HODGES, both buried in the High Spring Cemetery, New Hope, Alachua County FL. Alexander was born 17 May 1810, Tattnall Co GA, and died 6 April 1884. Sirletir was born 15 Nov 1815 and died 11 Mar 1877. Her dates taken from her tombstone which has the name "Sirletir A.E. HODGES". They were probably married in Lowndes Co GA. Their children were: Edwin D., Martha and Mary.

Am interested in contacting people of DAMPIER descent in and about the Alachua area. I am a descendent of Samuel Burton DAMPIER (1835-1909) who moved from Lowndes Co GA with his wife Martha HODGES to Alachua County where many of their children were born. He was a veteran of Company A, 7th Regiment, Florida Infantry in the Rebellion. He moved with his family to Uvalde TX in the 1870's.

My ancestor, Doctor Brook WADDLE, born 1828 was shot and killed by a transient at his farm in Hawthorne, Alachua Co., Fl. in the early 1900s. I was wondering where I could find papers that might tell me more about this. Doctor Brook WADDLE came from Indiana about 1884 and married Martha CLARK in Gainesville 23 December 1885. Searching for parents of Mary ZETROUER, wife of Michael GARRASON (or GARRISON) both of Effingham Co., GA. Moved to Alachua in 1832. First lived on north side of Paines Prairie on land purchased from Stephen V. Walker. Michael was surveyor of Newnansville and other land in Alachua. He was elected to Florida House of Representatives in 1845 representing Benton Co. (now Hernando) for Alachua after Statehood. Family moved to Hernando and land received as Armed Occupation Act eventually went to his son-in-law, Henry HOPE, husband of daughter, Alatha Frances GARRISON. What was the connection c1834 of John R. ZETROUER to Mary?

Searching for Alachua descendants of Samuel R. PYLES (Sr.) 1788-1837 and his wife, Charlotte WYNN 1792-1842. Samuel, known as Colonel S. R. Pyles of Glynn Co., GA served in GA State Senate 1813-1823, married Charlotte from Savannah, GA in 1809. Lived at Brunswick, GA until December 1823. moved to Alachua in 1824, first settling at Spring Grove Settlement. Buried at old Newnansville Methodist Cemetery surrounded by other members of family. Their son, Samuel R. Pyles, (Jr.) nearby, estate settled in 1899, listed siblings of estate settled by nephew, Samuel C. TUCKER. Other names on father's memorial tombstone.

I saw in a LDS History Center that there was an Elijah TUCKER in Alachua Co. in 1850. I am searching for my dead end Tucker who is an Elijah G. Tucker b. 1832 in NC>TN by 1855. He isn't in any TN or NC Census records that I can find!! Could you send me any info on Tucker in this area, specifically, Elijah? Thanks!
