A PRIVATE BANK IN RICHMOND

Richmond was probably too close to central London for a private bank to be necessary in the 19th century.

One bank that did attempt to trade there was Brown & Co.  Very little documentary evidence exists for it.  The only reference found is that the Bankers' Almanac and Yearbook reported that it ceased trading in 1810.  It does not appear in any of the lists up to 1802 so was probably started after that date.
